Manufacturer Description
GSO's Super-Plossl eyepieces have been some of our most popular sellers over the years. Users will experience incredible views without breaking the bank or impinging on your telescope's balance. They represent what is perhaps the best buy today for astronomers on a budget or for beginners. But don't be fooled by their low prices - these might well turn out to be all the eyepieces you will ever need!
The GSO Super-Plossls are available in a 1.25" barrel size and 9 different focal lengths ranging from 4mm to 40mm. The 4mm, 6mm and 9mm models are great for high power planetary and lunar observation. The 12mm and 15mm are perfect intermediate focal lengths, performing well on both deep-sky and planetary subjects. The 20mm and 25mm models would be excellent choices for low power scanning of open star clusters and viewing larger galaxies. The 32mm and 40mm models offer a wide field and are superb for wide field scanning, detailed observations of large diffuse subjects or as a finder eyepiece.
Features:
- All eyepieces are fully multicoated (FMC) for maximum light transmission
- High quality lenses provide the best-possible sharpness all over the field of view
- Blackened lens edges reduce light scattering and improve contrast
- Fold-down rubber eyecups to keep out stray light
- Comfortable eye relief at all but the shortest focal lengths (As in all Plossl eyepieces, eye relief can get tight at the shorter focal lengths but this is design constraint, not a fault of these eyepieces)
- Includes two end caps

GSO 1.25" 32mm Plossl Eyepiece. Does what I needed very well.
Pros: Cons: Comments:I bought this as a wide-field EP for my Orion ST-90 Refractor (which I had recently transformed into a very nice grab-&-go scope with a GSO Crayford-style focuser). With this EP I don't need a finder scope; this serves that purpose just fine. I had bought a 40mm EP before for the same purpose, but the field of view was no wider and the slightly greater magnification of the 32mm is helpful. The free eyepiece bolt case is nice, though I don't really use it with my EP carry case. Shipping was fast and it was nicely packed. A very good product with excellent customer service.

Sep 23, 2018GSO 32mm Plossl eyepiece. First eyepiece in my telescope every session
Pros: Cons: Comments:Great price. Wide view of the sky. Very helpful locating objects for aligning my telescope. Every amateur astronomer needs a 32mm in his or her eyepiece kit & this is an economical way to get it.

Apr 26, 2018MONEY WELL SPENT !!!
Pros: Cons: Comments:A high quality eyepiece, at a very low price. This is my new goto eyepiece, to use as a "SKY SWEEPER". The eye relief is a little too much, for my eye's, the eye cup is not adjustable. I fixed that problem, by taking black sheet foam, and wrapping a three inch wide or "tall" piece around the eyepiece, and securing it with rubber band's. I am able to adjust the height of the foam, by unwrapping the rubber bands. Once I find the perfect height, I wrap the rubber bands, tightly around the lens and foam. I now have a custom made, easily adjustable, eye cup.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
The clarity of the eyepiece, is very good. I believe it rivals eyepieces, that cost three times as much. This review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com
Mar 16, 2018Can't beat the price

Sep 15, 2017Great eyepiece
Pros: Cons: Comments:Much higher quality than expected. My first real eyepiece. Great views and much better than the inexpensive eyepieces that came with the scope. My used eyepiece now.

Mar 24, 2017Great lens for the price!
Pros: Cons: Comments:This is not a TeleVue, so you cannot expect this to perform like a TeleVue. However, for a budget lens, this thing performs excellent!

Feb 22, 2017Expansive View!
Pros: Cons: Comments:Rapid shipping from Agena and first light opened up the stars like I hadn't seen before. GSO build quality is superb as are the optics! Excellent wide-field, sky-sweeper!

Feb 22, 2017GSO 1.25mm plossl
Pros: Cons: Comments:I’ve been looking for a good performing, reasonably priced 32mm for a long time and I think I’ve found it! Good contrast, sharpness and field of view. I don’t think I would have been any happier with a more expensive one. I highly recommend this eyepiece and Agena’s service is excellent!

Jan 17, 2017This is a comfortable eyepiece
Pros: Cons: Comments:This is a comfortable eyepiece that provides excellent images with an f10 SCT. Only reason I couldn't give it 5 stars is that the field stop is not in focus, or is absent. This prevents the field of view from having a clean edge.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? YesThis review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com
May 13, 2016Expansive views, great for eyeglass users
Pros:Lightweight,Quality Lenses
Cons: Comments:Bought for outreach use. Generous eye relief helps with glasses. Coupled with barlow gives high power views for the public without the fuss.

Oct 9, 2015GSO 1.25" Plossl Eyepiece - 32mm
Pros:Easy to Use,Accurate,Strong Construction,Quality Lenses
Cons: Comments:This is the lowest power eyepiece that will work in most SCT/MAK telescopes because of the narrow baffle tube running the length of the telescope. A wide angle 20mm would give you the same view but would not be as sharp all across the field unless it was expensive. Therefore this is a must for giving the widest, sharpest, and brightest view at a reasonable cost. Someone with a 9" or biger SCT or a reflector or refractor with a 2" focuser will have other options in 2" eyepieces however this is an excellent Plossl eyepiece for anyones collection similiar in quality to Orion and Celestron.

Jul 4, 2015Very good for binoviewing except for undercut
Pros:Lightweight,Strong Construction,Sharp,Easy to Use
Cons:Undercut
Comments:I bought this to use with a 16 year old 32mm plossl from another supplier, but also made by the same manufacturer, in a binoviewer for lowest power, wide fields of view. It merged easily with the other eyepiece, so not much has changed in all those years except the change from single coating to multicoating. That, and the addition of an undercut which makes getting it to stay perfectly vertical in the self-centering holder difficult. One must push the eyepiece down hard against its shoulder while tightening the collet to avoid misalignment of the optical axes. The view is sharp, but not any better than the 16 year old eyepiece.

Mar 27, 2015Top-notch eyepiece!
Pros:Strong Construction,Easy to Use,Lightweight,Wide field,Quality Lenses,Accurate
Cons: Comments:I use this eyepiece exclusively for astronomy, especially for celestial objects that require a wide view to appreciate (e.g., open clusters, galaxies). I can see the double cluster in Perseus in a single field, and nearly all of the Pleiades. I have two long-focal-length Mak-Casses, and if you're familiar with Mak-Casses, you know that wide fields are not their strong suit. This eyepiece opens up the sky quite nicely. The long eye-relief will cause some "blackouts" or "kidney-beaning" in your view, typical of ANY wide-field eyepiece 32mm and above, so this is not a construction flaw, just a peculiarity of the design. You'll get best results from centering your eye in the eyepiece and not moving your eye around too much. No problem at all. This eyepiece is solid and well constructed, and comes with endcaps (nice touch).

Jan 30, 2015Best 32mm in its price range
Pros:Quality Lenses,Strong Construction
Cons: Comments:This is my most used eyepiece in my 6" SCT. The images are really good in the middle two thirds of the field of view. The last bit of the field is not as sharp but it it not a bother to me. I gave this 4 stars because this eyepiece does take some time to figure out. It suffers a little bit from black-out and the eye placement takes practice. Overall, I like it and think it is a good investment.

Jun 14, 2014Great eyepiece
Pros:Strong Construction,Quality Lenses,Easy to Use
Cons: Comments:I have used this eyepiece for my Maksutov 127mm telescope as a low power eyepiece. I am very happy with this purchase and strongly recommend it.

Mar 28, 2014Very sharp
Pros:Easy to Use,Accurate,Compact,Lightweight,Quality Lenses
Cons: Comments:I can see bands on Jupiter at 28x and no lateral chromatic aberration at the edges. Much better than my Huygens. The lenses are pretty and the moon very sharp. My scope is f 8. Plossls are good above 10mm focal length for eye relief.

Jan 25, 2014Great service, Shipped quickly!
Pros:Lightweight,Quality Lenses,Strong Construction
Cons: Comments:I use this as a wide field eyepiece in my Celestron C6 sct. Very lightweight for travel. I use it in my 45 degree diagonal, also from Agena. Makes a great combination for terrestrial viewing. I wish it was a little wider view, but that is the nature of the SCT scope.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? No
The service at Agena is great. Always fast shipping and great quality for the money. This review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com
Mar 22, 2013Great plossl
Pros:Quality Lenses,Lightweight,Easy to Use,Compact
Cons: Comments:I bought this eyepiece after seeing it recommended on the cloudy nights forum. It has quickly become my most used eyepiece. Decent FOV, average for a plossl, sharp, and the widest possible true Fov in my 1.25" focuser. Recommended!

Feb 9, 2013Outstanding value eyepiece
Pros: Cons: Comments:This "entry" level eyepiece is a virtual match for plossls costing three times as much. Novices or intermediate amateurs will find it sharp to the edge in telescopes as fast as f/6. This is an outstanding "star party" eyepiece for advanced amateurs.

Apr 29, 2012Nice FOV for Mak-Cass
Pros:Quality Lenses,Strong Construction,Easy to Use,Good sharpness
Cons: Comments:This has worked out well as a sort of first-stage "sweep" EP for my 90mm Skywatcher Mak, providing decent initial field of view with high mag, and clean, sharp optics. Prior to this EP, I used a 25mm Plossl for initial viewing, but this 32 works better. Wider FOV with still good mag.

Mar 4, 2012Great clear views
Pros:Quality Lenses,Easy to Use,Strong Construction
Cons: Comments:I use this EP in a 102x800 achro and it works very well. Nice clear view and easy to focus.

Dec 23, 2011GREAT WIDE-FIELD VIEWS / GREAT VALUE
Pros:Strong Construction,Quality Lenses,Easy to Use
Cons:Some kidney-beaning
Comments:A quality eyepiece...great optics, stars stay sharp across the entire field. Some minor kidney-beaning, but certainly negligible. A definite value and a "must have" for expansive views or a "finder" eyepiece!
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? YesThis review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com
Jan 2, 2011Wide views at a bargain price
Pros:Strong Construction
Cons: Comments:This is a nice finder eyepiece in my scopes, offering the widest view available in their 1.25" focusers. Sharpness and contrast are good. The eye relief is a bit excessive for the roll-up eye cup design--because the image comes to focus a few millimeters above the cup, you cannot rest your face against the cup to block stray light. Agena provides a very good plastic case.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? YesThis review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com
May 26, 2010Great performance, Bargain price
Pros:Good multicoatings,Quality Lenses,Widest field in 1 14,Strong Construction
Cons: Comments:A great low power eyepiece. I have owned other 32mm eyepieces (I gave them away with other telescopes I have built). This was a replacement purchase and is definitely a keeper. Generous eye relief, good contrast, and pinpoint star images in all my reflectors (F6,F7,F8). A great eyepiece at a bargain price.

May 1, 2010Lightest 32 for binoviewer on market
Pros:Quality Lenses,Lightweight,Strong Construction
Cons: Comments:Compared to a 32 Televue plossl head-to-head this eyepiece offers nearly equal image quality. Slight astigmatism in outer 20% of field. A best buy for binoviewers.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? YesThis review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com
Apr 30, 2010Nice ep

Jan 1, 2010Most Bang For The Buck
Pros:Quality Lenses,Strong Construction,Excellent price,Great quality
Cons: Comments:I purchased this EP as a "Second" and it was well worth the money and would have paid full price no questions asked. I use this EP in my 80mm f/5 scope which gives me 12.5x, a 6.4mm exit pupil. and a 4.16-deg TFOV. The views were crisp and very sharp and the images truly snapped into focus. I was looking for a widefield EP for this scope and after much research I learned that fast f ratio refractors are hard on widefield EP's and that a good Plossl would be the best bet and this is true. With a 6.4mm exit pupil the image is very bright without light being wasted and a 4.16 degree TFOV will give an object approximately a 16 minute transit time. To achieve this performance out of any other EP would cost several times more. The eye relief is also very comfortable and all in all this is a bargain that can't be beat!

Aug 6, 2009Great low power eyepiece
Pros:Quality Lenses,Strong Construction
Cons: Comments:This is a great low power eyepiece, I use it as a finder in all my telescopes. Has good FOV and eye relief. A nice must have.

Aug 5, 2009Wonderful eyepiece, great value
Pros:Quality Lenses,Strong Construction
Cons: Comments:I originally considered Orion's Plossls but realized that this eyepiece is a match and is fully multi-coated. It provides excellent color correction and a nice wide field of view. I replaced my 40mm Kellner eyepieces with this one and still enjoy the same field of view.

May 22, 2009Best low power eyepiece for your money
Pros:Recess Barrel,Eye relief,Blackened lens edges,FMC,Fold-down rubber eyecups,Strong and light
Cons:Not a wide field EP
Comments:The 32mm GSO Plossl is a great low mag eyepiece, very sharp FOV even with my f/5 scope and great contrast. It will make a nice finder EP. This EP is fully multi-coated with blackened edges and with a security recess barrel. It is better than all of my other plossls, even ones at double the price.

Apr 5, 2009Classic 32mm Plossl
Pros:Sharp focus to the edge; Widest field possible for a 1.25 eyepiece
Cons:Low power lets light polluted skies wash out dim objects; Eye placement is important
Comments:This eyepiece is a high quality 32mm plossl. It is a nearly perfect example of this type of eyepiece. It does not have any weaknesses, except for those that are inherent in the design. Good points first, it makes a great finder scope, stars are pinpoints right up to the edge, the field of view is about the maximum possible with a 1.25 eyepiece.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
"Bad" points -- the eye relief might almost be too much for most people, so it is possible to get your eye in the wrong position or get kidney beaning, and the field is so wide and the power so low in some scopes that a light polluted background can get so bright that it "washes out" dim objects. These aren't really defects, they are just characteristics of low power, wide field eyepieces.Mar 17, 2009Best low power eyepiece for your money
Pros:FMC, Fold-down rubber eyecups, Blackened lens edges, Eye relief, Recess Barrel, Strong and Light
Cons:52 AFOV, not a con really but for wide-field junkies this may be a problem.
Comments:The 32mm GSO Plossl is a great low mag eyepiece, very sharp FOV even with my f/5 scope and great contrast. It will make a nice finder EP. Nov 19, 2008Great eyepiece for the money!
Pros:Good eye relief,Blackened lens edges,Security recess barrels,Fully multi-coated
Cons:None
Comments:The 32mm GSO plossl is a great low power eye piece with nice bright views, plenty of contrast and pin point stars to the edge. It will make a nice finder EP. I have 2 Orion Sirus plossl EPs, the 10 and the 25mm and I can tell you that the GSO Super Plossl EPs are a step above them. The GSO's are fully multi-coated with blackened edges also with security recess barrels. Being a machinist I can say that the diameters of the barrels are machined with close tolerances and fit my diagonal with a feel of quality. As for eye relief the GSOs have more than either the Sirus or the Highlights on any given eyepiece ... my 15mm GSO has as much eye relief as the 20mm Orion Highlight and my 4mm GSO has more than the 7.5mm Orion highlight. Oh yeah, let's not forget the price and the free shipping so maybe just try one.
