Poorly constructed
Pros: Cons: Comments:I bought this in September 2018 to use with my Tel-Vue 2" eyepieces. The barrel eyepiece receiver on the diagonal came loose and would wobble making it less secure to hold any eyepiece in place. I bought this setup to make it easier to move the eyepiece to the side depending the viewing position of the telescope and for my visitors who are children. What I was using before I had to loosen the connection to the telescope to rotate the eyepiece and it was difficult to re-tighten. I like how this had an adapter to make it much easier to position the eyepiece with two thumb screws for comfortable viewing. The barrel eyepiece receiver of the diagonal came loose, so I took the blue side covers off to see why it was loose. It appeared it came un-threaded but it would not tighten back up. It would rotate on the base diagonal 360 degrees but would not tighten and would wobble pretty bad. I could not even pull it apart either. This was unusable in this state. I then discovered there are 4 micro set screws holding the eyepiece barrel receiver to the diagonal. Only 2 of them were actually making some minimal contact with the eyepiece barrel receiver which prevented the eyepiece barrel to fall off; one on each side but only the left one of each side. The other two did not even protrude through frame of the diagonal and never made contact with the eyepiece barrel receiver at all. The allen wrench required to tighten the set screws was a size 0.9mm. I had to special order for a set of mini metric allen wrenches. They are not found at any hardware store I went to, and I went to several. When I tried to tighten the set screws one would not move either in or out. It was locked in place. The head is now rounded out. It was one of the set screws that was never applied to hold the eyepiece barrel receiver in place. Now it is being held in place with only 3 of the 4 set screws. I will not use this diagonal for my 2" Tel-Vue eyepieces ever again. I will probably use it with the 1 1/4" eyepieces. I did upgrade my Meade diagonal to a Tel-Vue diagonal to use with my 2" Tel-Vue eyepieces.

Pros: Cons: Comments:Great choice to upgrade from the kit diagonal that was included with my scope. The 99% transmission provide excellent views and contrast. The blue plates provide an esthetical accent and the included adapter an increased functionality.

Oct 7, 2014Perfect diagonal
Pros:No
Cons:No
Comments:This is my second one and I love it. I have a half dozen diagonals for various purposes and can appreciate the features. The SCT 2" adapter wasn't on my radar but now I use that all the time. The 2" to 1.25" adapter is the best I've ever used. By the way, the diagonal has no influence on the image just the way it should and the dielectric coating means the mirror should last forever. My oldest one of these is several years old and in perfect shape. I'm also sold on the blue finish and the great thimble knobs.
