I used it back in the day when it actually worked without phoning home. They had a change of management recently and it's even worse now as an AV I believe. It's a shame when good freeware goes bad.

    @Dave In Vermont

We're here to help folks, like yourself, with questions. So please always feel free to ask any you may have. It's what we do & how we learn.

I bet the duo is unhappy about that already. :D

Buying anything that was good & free is always perilous. It suggests it was stolen.

Just been looking at it with my Mak, then, you guessed it ... clouds! wa0.png wa1.png wa2.png
Found it on SN7. You can see its proximity to the Little Beehive.

Cool find! Now if our weather here would cooperate and go above 0°C. and the clouds here to disperse...

Just spent some quality time at the eyepiece with "Winter Albireo". A beautiful pair. Bold colors. A little wider spacing than Almach (another beautiful blue-goldish pair) and very similar to the real Albireo. I never knew about it until Mak pointed it out. Thanks, Mak!

You're welcome Reggie. I think I'd heard the term 'Winter Albireo' but I didn't know what or where it was. Oddly, I'd been observing it for years. I discovered it when I would search for M41. It struck me straight away that it was like Albireo. I used to think of it as the Sirius Albireo lol. It wasn't until I saw that thread on StarGits, with that young man with the enquiry about the Vixen scope, that I realised that was the Winter Albireo.

StarGits, lol! It's become quite a circus it seems. It's a shame such a nice platform can be spoiled by a few. I've learned quite a bit and helped a few there.

I've seen forums go bad. It's normally when one or more moderators get what Dave calls 'moderatoritis'. It is a shame as StarGits could be so good. Unfortunately there's at least one rotten apple in the barrel.

Well, back on topic, I hope to get an image of 145 CMajoris and add it to my composite of Albireo and Almach. If I can pull it off, they should make a stunning trio (or is that sextet?):

Speaking of finding h3945, I finally broke-down and bought a copy of the Sky & Telescope Pocket Atlas - thing. It was on deep discount post-holidaze. Should be here tomorrow - Monday on the outside.

Yeah, I like it. Even if it's a bit big for my cargo trouser's pockets lol.

Yes, from this. I like the fact that it's small.

On my chart, the winter Albireo is labeled H3945. And it is a gem: bright blue/bright yellow tightly paired.

    rainguy -

Hello! First post congratulations and welcome aboard A-C! It's nice to see you've decided to speak - after 'ghosting' in the background. Many, many folks do the same. But to my query for you: May I ask what 'charts' do you use?

I ask as there's an excellent software-program - called 'Stellarium'- which could download for FREE available through right here in A-C. One of it's developers is a member here. So I thought I'd point this out, as I always do for essentially new-members. I'll leave a screenshot of mine below - which is quite advanced - which gives an idea of the range of how it can be customized by the user. I also will leave a screenshot of how it basically appears when fresh-from-the-box.

    My own.

    Brand new.

And here's a download link you can use to get your own copy.

If you already have this program, no worries! Someone else may come along who does not.

So once again - welcome aboard! Nice to see you see you here.

    Dave
