Greetings to you! Welcome aboard A-C to you from Vermont!

Not familiar with the Polarex Telescope(s). But I'd like to be! What I do have is listed (mostly) in my signature below. That's the custom on these forums - but we also throw the Rule-Book out the window her. :p

I have some family in Tilburg, so it's good to have you join us here!

Welcome, Kiwi! I would like to find out more about the Polarex as well. I'm not familiar with that one. Look forward to reading your reports!

Which had the same optics as Edmund Scientific (Edscorp), which were all made by Carton Optical Industries, Ltd. of Japan.

But the mechanical workings are where we will be finding out some new tidbits from an actual owner - such as our new friend Kiwi! Once he re-surfaces...

Very interesting! I have a bunch of old Unitron catalogs from over here. I'll go take a look and see how large they are. This forum has a limit of 2MB we can download.

    I'll be back...

I'm from the States myself - Cambridge, Massachusetts. But escaped up to Burlington, Vermont over 20 years ago. And close to the Canadian-border in case I need to escape from Trump etal.

YouTube froze your account?! They sound like PayPal! That's pathetic! Ihope they hand it back - and soon! Haven't they ever heard of 'artistic-license?' I'd be talking to an attorney.

And nice to meet you too! Welcome to our nest. It's a new forum here and what we all do is shaping the direction we will go. So be free and have fun! We do!

    Dave

ps - my Unitron catalogs are all over 20MB. I'll see if I can't source them later.

I think they've been distributed under several brand names in Europe and the rest of the world.

As a 12 year old I got a 3" F/15 Edmund Scientific refractor in 1972. I was pining away for the Unitron though. Little did I now then that the lenses were identical. The optics were absolutely beautiful!

    I finally sold it.

Thanks! To Kiwi - I now have a Pdf. of the Advertisement History of Unitron - as well as a ODT. of it!
