    I couldn't resist this one-off shot of the Hyades, waxing crescent moon and the Pleiades, a single 3 second exposure at f5.6. I superimposed a shorter exposure image of the moon so that you can see some earthshine. Here's the result:

    It was a beautiful sight!

    Thanks, Mak. It was one of those visual experiences that just screams "photograph me!" Every year, a similar configuration happens. This was a shot of the three that I took March 22, 2018:

    Thanks, Mak. I've slowed down on the intensive astrophotography and may take the occasional pic now and again. I'm anticipating Mars in 2020, another close perigee, and I'll be off to the races again, lol.

    Thanks, Ed. You've been doing some impressive astrophotographic work yourself. Right now, I'm doing the chance alignment type of photography (when the clouds relent). A little rest period for me until Mars comes back around in 2020. I'll be looking out for your next image, Ed :)

    I just hope there's no dust storm in 2020. Remember, orange filters are brilliant on Mars lol.

    I finally got some 20mm eyepieces sorted for the 127mm Mak.

    Brilliant setup, Mak! Yes, I do think you're ready for Mars, lol. I may need to consider a binocular view for my Mak, hmmm...

    Thanks. The trick is merging the images. The WO bino's can only use about 66º FOV but I've found that these 72º 20mm WO SWAN's really work well.

    In reality anything smaller than about 12mm isn't as easy to merge usually. I have three GPC Barlows of 1.6x, 2x and 2.6x. So, I think I'm pretty ready for Mars 2020!
