    Providence parted the clouds and allowed me to capture the beautiful Venus/Jupiter conjunction on March 1! I took multiple shots at prime focus and with the camera zoom lens:

    Added notes: the first prime focus shot was taken right after sunset, hence, the blue sky. The second prime focus shot, with longer exposure time, shows a darker sky because it was taken after darkness fell.

    I like them all, each with its unique 'flavor'. My favorite is the last image you posted simply because I really like nightscapes.

    Great shots, as usual, Reggie. I witnessed this myself (with the naked eye). I recall seeing a similar (but in summer) conjunction not long after I'd left the neuro-hospital in Wolverhampton after the initial stroke around 2014. Venus was at virtual half-phase and I saw cloud detail. I could see the GRS on Jupiter and moons.

    It was the first time since the stroke that I'd set-up the 130 Explorer aka 'the Bazooka'. I managed with just one good arm and a leg lol. The bloody thing seemed huge at the time.

    Not a bad scope really, wobbly focuser and all! It was the first real reflector I'd ever owned.

    The mirror is relatively basic, but still pretty decent. I'd only set it up experimentally to see if I could set-up the next day. It was a baking hot June day, and I got sunburned (I must have looked like a redneck lol). So I viewed the loose conjunction anyway that day after I waited for the planets to appear in the twilight. I saw them before the bats came out to feed. Luck was on my side that sweltering June day, as it clouded over the next day, for at least a fortnight. Reverting back to the typical English rainy summer weather.

    Cheers, TBH it's just a basic Synta Newtonian with a concave mirror. I had years of fun with it though. That is, until I had brain damage and decided to spend a fortune on better gear lol. :D

    Cool shots Reggie, very nice, I missed the Conjunction myself. Both were pretty close.
