    Hello George,

I was just wondering is there a "off topic" forum or a DIY forum here.
I took a quick look but am really skimming as I am supposed to be working lol

It was decided early on that we wanted to avoid a specific off topic forums. If there is a particular topic that is missing and is related to astronomy we can look into implementing it. In general we wanted to avoid the mess of managing/moderating an off topic forums.

Now if the DIY idea is related to astronomy and viewing equipment we could possibly add it to the Equipment discussions section.

    Thank you for the response.
I do a lot of refurbishing of astro gear, mostly refractors and some tweaking of mounts.
The off topic was I was just at a garage sale the other day and picked up a brand new in box SLT 102mm
I was looking for a spot to post a "look what I got" and the tweaks I was planning before donating it to the local boys and girls club.

So something along the lines of 'Do It Yourself - Fixes & Improvements?' Like a fluid field of topics like 'I Did This' and a 'How Do I Fix This?'

I have one like this in my 'Miles-O'-Files.'

Nothing un-civilized that could be misconstrued as a crazed "Anything Goes" free-for-all. Is this what you're proposing? Sounds a worthwhile idea - and I'll keep this in mind for further refining. Kick it around some more, Gabby? I will.

There are always small fixes and such for astronomy equipment be it scopes or mounts. Having a place to put them could be handy.

I agree. And with my 'Miles-O'-Files,' I could stock it with many of the articles of a 'How-To' nature. Among other things!

I'll be moving such ideas onto the active-burners of my mind and let a few of them to 'Simmer & Serve.'

That will be 2 projects I'm kicking about at present. The other is incorporation of the Munsell Color System into identifying 'things-up-there' with colors people see them as being. And the range of people's color-perception. More on that later.

So keep going, Gabby! I'll be about to bounce ideas around when you wish to add some more ideas to kick about! I'll do likewise - of course.

The forums feedback section is not really the place for this I suspect.

No this is the exact place it should be don't worry about that :)

Would a section called "How Tos and DIY" in the equipment section work out?

Maybe, George! Thanks for taking a look!

I'd like to bounce a few things off Gabby before we solidify such plans. But do expect a response in rather short order! Now I've got another 'brush-fire' to pour some kerosene on.....

    That would be great George.
A spot to put all the "tweaks" and such would be helpful under one section.

Glad you've weighed in on this, Gabby. So you're 'good-to-go' on this suggestion by George? I'm good if you're in agreement. This is your suggestion after all! ;)

    Let's go, yes?
