Their whole marketing strategy is odd. Originally they had two planetary filters an 'A' and a 'B' and they were for viewing specific planets. Then they added an equally expensive 'Mars' filter. Eventually they only had one filter, which was a bit half and half with the Mars filter and the 'B' I think. It became the Bandmate Planetary.

It's a nicely made filter and just screams out quality. I've heard it described as a neodymium on steroids. I think it's just a really nice Mars filter personally. One day I might even get to use it lol.

Having filed all 14 of my Wratten Color-Planetary Filters in some order last night, my Filter-Case is about ready to explode! :D And that leaves me in trying to remember the sort of details about each as the color shift from, say, the color seen when tilted and you look through the edge.

I did bump into a question: You know that set of Orion and 20 Color-Filters? What do they include aside from the Wratten Color-Filters? There are 14 Wratten's out there. Here's what I call the best and most lucid guide:

    https://agenaastro.com/choosing-a-color-planetary-filter.html

    So what accounts for the extra 6 filters? A couple neutral-densities? Polarizer-set of 2? 14 Wratten's is a constant - no variation.

    Hmmm...

I think they may have some additional Wratten colours.

I can see Wratten numbers I'm not familiar with, #30 & #44A for example.

Good catch on the '20-Piece Color-Filter Set' there Mak! I guess they (Orion) decided they're the rightful-heirs to the "Wratten" filter legacy! Oh brother!

Now I'm back to hating that company - even "if" the Orion Mars Filter is excellent. I'll not be buying any "new" filters 'were' to be available - like the ones they seem to have conjured-up! I don't seeing Orion offering these as individual filter's one can buy. It's "20 OR Bust!" What's next? '# 666 Pink with Purple-Polkdots?'

    Jerks!

You can have your 'OCD.' I'm quite happy with my 'outrage!'

They probably went to a 'Le Beauty~Parlour' and got excited seeing all the fingernail-paint! "Blue and Green Contrast on Uranus and Neptune" eh? I'll bet!

    Pass the acetone.

Well, I suppose I can stack the Baader Blue and Green filters. Doesn't that make turquoise? lol

I've just cleaned my Baader filters, I reckon I can make both light and dark blue-green!

    baader1.jpg
I'm curios as to why light blue-green would be good for TLP though.

    baader2.jpg

I've been giving blue-green a bit of a daylight testing. Seems to improve contrast on white objects.

Why yes! It works for the laundry-soap advertisers who trumpet:

"Makes Whiter than White! Brighter than Bright!"

When they add a fluorescein-dye to the soap that reacts with the UV in Sunlight to emit a photon and make your clothes glow...

    Schmuckin-Fart!

I've read that some TLP is a pink colour. I suppose blue green would make it darker.
