    Soft sky. Seeing 3". Jupiter only 23 degrees up. Had to try my first shot. Got a long way to go. :)

    Thanks all. I learned machining the old fashion way (50 years ago) by "turning cranks." When CNC machining came along my old school methods of precision machining gave me a deeper appreciation for what high level CNC machining offered. I figured I had better learn how to use the cheap tools of lunar/planetary photography before I invest in better tools. I'm still "turning cranks." ;)

    Hopefully getting better at this. I will to give it another try tonight. Sure wish the "seeing " would cooperate!

    Still learning processing. Last night (Saturday) I got my first "red spot" photo with Europa about to ingress. Seeing soft. About 4-5/10 Monday night is supposed to be better. We shall see. Not holding my breath :rolleyes: Looking forward to my first Saturn shot. Enjoying the adventure.

    Going through my captures on the 28th of June I did find a few taken earlier that evening that were under slightly better seeing conditions.

    Got my first Saturn shot. Saturn was only 21 degrees up. Seeing was soft as usual. After playing around with this 50 dollar camera I have a much greater appreciation for those "knock-your-socks-off" moon/planet photos others take. Hope to get to that level someday. :)

    I'm coming in on this thread late but, better late then never IMHO. Your acquisition of the targets is pretty darn awesome , the processing is something we all fight with . Better Jupe than my 1st and your Saturn is looking good . Keep up shooting my friend

    Thanks! I did some more captures forgetting the fact that the aftershock tremors from the second earthquake in Ridgecrest (about 60mi away as the crow flies) would knock the scope around :eek:o_O I did get a few Jupiter and Saturn shots off. A few were ruined from the tremors. Rockin' and Rollin' in So Cal!

    Last night I got another capture of the Hyginus-Triesnecker region in deep twilight before the seeing self destructed. My Alpine Valley capture did not work out as well. Still learning the ropes.

    Out practicing captures when I noticed a white spot disrupting Jupiter’s atmosphere. Seeing about 5/10. Did anybody else see this under better seeing conditions?
