I played with my original image in Photoshop and came out with a nicely enhanced view of the transit. Mercury is much better defined in this image. What a cool experience! I hope many of you had the opportunity to see it:

That is very nice! Great close-up and personal shot. It's great to have our your own images of this rare event. Are you ready for the 2020 Mars perigee? You know it's going to be almost as close as the 2018 apparition ;)

no, not even thinking of Mars yet. I don't really have a long fl scope, my longest is 6" f5. My 10" f6 needs some work, so maybe this is the time to get it just right again!

mirror cell has to be reworked into tube, or maybe just a new tube will be the solution....

Nice observatory you have, squeege. Did you build it all yourself?

Yes. My 36' x 24' metal garage collapsed due to snow, and I used pieces from it to make the observatory. This is my 2nd, the first was a small 10' Lowes Home Improvement metal shed. It's still at the other house we lived at, just not really movable.

I have Photoshop Essentials. I think it's the budget Photoshop lol. I couldn't get GIMP past Gatekeeper on macOS.

Thanks, Mak. I have Photoshop v.7 I've been using it for years on my PC since Windows XP!

    It sounds expensive lol.

I can't get Gatekeeper on Mac to run GIMP. Gatekeeper acts like a nightclub bouncer who's a bit of a twonk and has a large pole up the jacksy. I even managed to install the British English version of GIMP, before Gatekeeper showed it the door. Honestly, you can just have too much security!
