    I just saw a Reuters article on MSN.com about the black hole image in M87. The NASA press release video shows a nice picture of the black hole, which looks quite similar to all the artists renditions I have seen over the years.

    I did a Google search for BLACK HOLE IMAGE which returned a lot of videos on this amazing leap for mankind. To me, this is as exciting as was watching the moon landing in 1969.

    why did I register here so late ?? It's incredible, thanks for saying that. I think this is a big step for all mankind, and I really liked the accurate comparison with the first landing on the moon.

    So a black hole is black, space is black, and the only way to visually see it is by the defining corona around the event horizon, right? Weird.

    Kinda reminds me of something from The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy or Red Dwarf.
