Another round of Orion Nebula shots resulted in this best image (imo). Still, not as good as my 2020 image, but getting there. I increased the ISO setting and reduced exposure time (ISO 3200, 10s) from the 2020 image (ISO 1600, 20s) to get a fairly decent one-off shot:

    1-07-22 image (ISO 3200, 10s):
ASTRONOMY - ORION NEBULA 1-07-22A 014 BEST FIX CAPTION SM.jpg

Here is the best image taken on 1-05-22 at identical settings of the 2020 image (ISO 1600, 20s single exposure):
    ASTRONOMY - ORION NEBULA 1-05-22 FIX (ISO 1600, 20s) CAPTION SM.jpg

    and finally,
1-19-20 image, my overall best so far (ISO 1600, 20s single exposure):
    ASTRONOMY - ORION NEBULA D3200 (ISO 1600) 1-19-20 CAPTION.jpg

    Clear skies!

I like your latest image. It has almost the brightness of the 1/5/2022 image, and almost the sharpness of detail of the 1/19/2020 image. Nice work.

Last night I set up my equipment to do some imaging. I had done maintenance work on my old GEM and spent time drift aligning, especially to get the polar axis spot on again. I then mounted my TV-85 and DSLR with the field flattener/reducer, programmed the intervalometer and connected it, etc. Everything looked great. I shot 60, 15 second light frames. Inspecting the images in the 2 second review, I was really excited to see outstanding deep sky images, on the camera display screen! Once done with the light frames I went on to shoot 30 dark frames. As luck would have it, on dark frame #28 the SD card failed. Try as I may, the SD card was burned, no way to retreive anything.

This morning I was at Best Buy, where I bought a new 64 GB SD card. The camera is now working as good as ever. As I type this, I'm charging the batteries. If it's clear tonight I want to do a color image, as well as one in Hydrogen Alpha (Ha). Let's see what happens.
