My lunar eclipse shots! The night started off mostly cloudy but the sky cleared beautifully as the moon entered the penumbral phase. I had a clear sky for most of the night! The close shots were taken at prime focus on the Nikon D3200 through my 127mm Mak. The next to last shot was taken with a 300x zoom lens, and the final image was taken with the stock wide-field lens:

This last image was framed with Scorpius in the lower left, aiming its claw at the eclipse!

I'm super impressed with those Reggie. It's like I was there. You get the Mak the Night LEPTWA127MCT (Lunar Eclipse Pictures Taken with a 127mm Maksutov Cassegrain Telescope) award. :D

Apparently it was visible in the UK, if you were standing on top of Yr Wyddfa (Snowden) or Beinn Nibheis (Ben Nevis). Or maybe The Wrekin lol. Either way, even if you did, it would be cloudy or raining, or both.

Thanks, Dave. I am so honored! NSG rocks as always! It was a great night, though it started out mostly cloudy. Didn't look auspicious at all!! It didn't clear until about 10 and it did so rather nicely and almost completely. I had a clear window for the rest of the night/morning. It's wonderful to be able to share my pictures with my friends, especially those who either had difficulty seeing the eclipse or were not able to see it at all from their locations. :)

Well, you know what the SAS motto is, right? I don't lol. I think it's 'Who Dares Wins'. You dared and won! The photo's are great. You've inspired me to go out early to see Saturn. I might even be able to see Jupiter and Mars.

It's supposedly going to be clear ...

GO for it! I got a date with an extremely close Mars/Neptune conjunction on Tuesday morning!

Thanks, Jeff! It started out mostly cloudy here and fortunately cleared out just in time. BTW, Mars and Neptune are dancing very closely over the next few mornings.

Thanks for posting your great pics, Reggie. It was solid cloud cover down here, so no cigar for me.

Clouds stopped play. Although Saturn would have been a bit low anyway. The planets will be higher next month though. It will be interesting to see if the Martian southern polar cap will be visible.

I can feel 'Mars Fever' coming ...

Well, there is November 8, but you'll have to be up in the wee hours.

Apparently there's no cure. Well, apart from looking at Mars ... a lot lol.
