    I wasn't planning on getting an image but I couldn't resist. I waited all year to observe the Butterfly Cluster in Scorpius. It's a bit of a challenge from my location with the cluster riding so low on the horizon. Not a big fan of stacking so I took this nice little one-off:

    1 second exposure at ISO6400 using Nikon D3200. Final touches in Photoshop.

    Brilliant Reggie! I can definitely see the butterfly. It's low for me viewing from near the North Pole. I can see a lot of Scorpio but the Butterfly is just too low.

    Unless I demolish the house opposite me, of course. I doubt the Old Bill will take a positive view of that though.

    @Orion25 nice picture of the cluster, not sure I ever watch that one before, it's always too low here and hidden behind thick atmosphere. But it looks great with the bright yellow star along the blue ones.
