Haven't been on here for months, so if y'all have already discussed the new (and just now shipping to vendors) Sky-Watcher Evostar ED 150 [ http://www.skywatcherusa.com/product/evostar-150-apo-refractor/ ], I apologize.

    Exciting times for refractor fans!

I bought the APM ED 152 during the 2017 Black Friday Sale, and I've been thrilled with its contrast, resolution, & false-color suppression. But I look forward to observing reports from SW150 owners. Two 6" F8 APO options are a very good thing in my book!

Naturally, we've had a very cloudy 7 months since I got mine, but I did manage to get some Jupiter shots back in June:

Welcome back! I love that image with the Moon seemingly kissing Jupiter!

    Well done!

Wow that Evostar 150 sure looks amazing, 1.2 meters long that's a beast. I bet it must be super sharp. Nice shot of jupiter too.

Thanks for sharing the news about the big refractor.

Thanks! That was a couple of minutes before an eclipse of Io. My APM 152 has shown albedo features on Ganymede, and is sharp at 500x -- maybe 600x in perfect seeing.

Our resident Brazilian Astro-Photographer Avani Soares has a C14 SCT (and a Flying-Saucer - judging by the images he gets!) and has produced albedo, and more, on the 4 major Moons of Jupiter. As well as the hexagon on the North-Pole of Saturn! NASA's got nothing on him!

As your just recently returned here, you may not have seen his work yet. But it's definitely worth searching for here. If you should wish to write to him, do bear in mind he hardly speaks a word of English. Portugese is the tongue of Brazil, so Google-Translate comes in handy. This forum doesn't mind languages other than English:

    That's what I call a precise instrument.
