Well I decided I wanted to mod my c102 while I was tinkering with it. Maybe I went overboard, but it turned out pretty darn good if ya ask me! ;) I changed the paint scheme a bit on it and the accessories, and darkened the lens edges better than the first time I got into it.

Those edges are BLACK! I also flocked the tube while it was apart.

Very Nice @Robert Clark. Judging from the paint job I think someone secretly wants to get a William Optics scope :)

I had a black and gold zenith star 80mm achro, but sold it. I must admit the red and white WO DID influence the color scheme though!

My next 80mm is going to be the Sky watcher pro. It comes at Christmas time! I kinda like the medium focal ratio. Not too fast, not too slow. Plus, its got a decent price too.

I must admit I personally have a thing for the Gold and White. The William Optics scopes have always caught my eye since day one at Agena.

Obviously I like the red and white. The gold and white is next though. I've always liked the way WO colors all the accessories and mountings. It looks a lot better than just plain black or white brackets. I honestly regret selling my Zenith star.

I did order me a 14mm ES 82° from Agena yesterday. I'm biting my nails waiting for it.

Also, forgive the background in one pic. I was actually cleaning the shed when I decided to do this. Needless to say I got in trouble when I was servicing a scope with such of stuff I pulled out of the shed sitting in the yard! Its picked up now though! Lol!

Out of curiosity, how did you blacken the lens edges? I've used a sharpie on my Travelscope 70, but I was kind of hoping for a less stupid method. Also, when you reassembled it, did collimation hold up? I guess it doesn't really matter because of the lens cell, but I did find I had to jiggle with my Travelscope once I put it back together.

I used the Testor's flat black model paint. I used a sharpie before, but it didn't get it dark enough. Collimation was spot on when I put everything back together.

I love my little celestron 70mm travel scope. It probably sees more use than ANY I have. I made a white light solar filter for it, and regularly use it for watching wildlife. I got it to use as a big finder for the dob, but used it so much that now I wouldn't even consider mounting on something else. I'll have to get another I guess!

If you added a splash of blue, it could pass for a French Tricolor or Old Glory.

Nice work! Mine's still in it's same ol' boring stock colors, but perhaps this will inspire me to gussy it up. Gussying can be fun.
