Dealing with Tropical weather and severe light pollution can be so disappointing at times. I had sort of called it quits on this comet. However, Reggie gave me hope when he posted that the comet was traveling through Auriga, which is in one of the better areas of my night sky. Torrential downpours were the order of the day, as have been for many days past. By some miracle the sky cleared up at night, turning into some of the best conditions I get here. I didn't have to get up early today, so.....

This is actually an RGB24 image, and you can see the faint greenish/teal tint of the coma. I'm hoping you can get a larger/better image by clicking on it.

YOU BAGGED THE COMET! Good show, Ed! Upon closer inspection, I can see a hint of green in your image. In a few days, it will be in close conjunction with Mars (10-11) and will sweep past the Hyades (13-15) for more photographic opportunities (pending clear skies). I've taken a few more shots while the comet's in Auriga. I'll have to wait until Saturday night for the rain to pass through here to get any more images.

    Excelsior!

10 February 2023: According to The Sky Live website it looks like the comet will be in conjunction with Mars tonight and tomorrow night. Let's hope for good weather to image what may be a great shot. Also, it looks like the comet is heading for The Hyades, which may be another interesting shot. I had good luck with the setup I used for this image, and will probably try it again if the opportunity presents itself. It's easy enough to keep the equipment set up in the garage.

Random thought: Like the Neanderthals of 50,000 years ago, it is doubtful humanity will be around for the next time this comet comes back. Hmmm.....
