I've always taken images of planets with DSLR and stacked single images. Last night I used a planetary webcam and stacked images from an AVI video. I've tried this in the past, but last night was more successful than my last attempts. Still have a way to go, but better.

It'll get better with the 1000's of frames in a avi , I've shot 1 to 10,000 for each channel , that way you get more best frame average. I'm still waiting for Jupiter to clear the trees. Jupiter is low this year or the trees have grown 10feet . The lower the dewpoint and humidity the better the average of best frames. It's boiling here !

my video frame counts are at 300. Maybe I should go for 500 or 1000?

Great, squeege! I prefer using webcam video for imaging and have gotten some pretty good results. I processed video cam footage for these images:

    Keep up the good work!

Go for it, squeege! Those are some nice Saturns. I really like the 2007 image, great detail and nice color. Have fun with those avi files :D
