Got an invite from Clint, and thought I'd register on the site.

Introducing myself: Dominique 'Dodi' Dierick, Belgium. Have been doing astronomy since 1975, astrophotography since 1976 with lots of different equipment. Since two years I have a roll off roof observatory again, after living 15 years in the city center. The observatory houses two 10 micron mounts: 1000 HPS and 2000 HPS. On the smaller mount I have a Takahashi Epsilon 130D installed since a few weeks. On the larger mount, a C11 Edge HD and a TSA102 refractor. For imaging, I have used different CCD camera's, but I now use DSLR exclusively. Switched from Canon 6Da to Nikon D810a last spring.

For lunar/planetary I am using two ASI camera's.

My portable setup consists of an old Vixen GPDX mount, with new Skywatcher GOTO controller, a C8 Edge HD and a C6.

Apart from the modern gear, I also have some 'oldies' that I still use regularly for visual observations: a 65mm Unitron equatorial (lens made by Nikon), a C5 orange fork mounted, and a Vixen 80L equatorial (which was a test telescope at Vehrenberg Germany in the 90').

My recent images can be found on Flickr.

    Best regards

    Dodi

    Hey @Dodi,

Welcome to Astronomy Connect. Not sure if you meant to post a link to your Flickr account or not but it seems to be missing. Kinda wanted to check out your photos :)

Yea when I eventually get some free time, and the media gallery section up and running, I wanted to ask members if they could submit their work for use in graphics for banners, widgets, avatars, etc... on the site.

Dodi would you post a couple photos of you roll off observatory. One day I may get over there to see it in person. Sounds like an excellent observatory.

Hi Clint, the TOA130 eventually got upgraded here by the TOA150, which now is replaced again. Both were superb scopes, but since I developed a back problem, I wanted my second mount to be in the observatory, so I don't have to take it out each time. Unfortunately that meant the TOA150 had to go, too long to combine with a second mount in the observatory. The TOA would still be there in other circumstances. Always welcome to come and visit us ;)
As for observatory pictures, I'll wait till the observatory is finished. We are currently putting a second wall around it to counter rainwater :)
