Post an Image to the Media Gallery

1. Navigate to the Media Gallery and click "Add Media". The "Add Media" button is located on the top right of the page, just under the header area.
   
   
   
   
2. Select the Category most relevant to your image(s). Pick from an array of astronomy related categories.
   
   
   
   
3. Upload an Image. There are two ways to upload an image on our site. See below for the available options and instructions.
   • Click "Upload Image" and select the image(s) you'd like to upload. Windows users may select multiple images simultaneously by holding CTRL and clicking each image. Mac users may select multiple images simultaneously by holding SHIFT and clicking each image.
   • Select "Upload an image from a URL". Copy and past the exact URL of the image. This link must end with a compatible file extension listed in the "Media Gallery Limits" below.
     
     
4. Describe your Image. Give your image(s) a Title and a brief description. Note that this is option but strongly recommended.
   
   
   
   
5. Save Media. Scroll down and click "Save Media". Your images will be uploaded to the gallery as long as the meet the Media Gallery Limits below.

What are the Media Gallery Limits?

• Max Media/Album Title Length: 150 characters
• Max Media/Album Description Length: 1000 characters
• Max File Size: 2 MB
• Max Dimensions: 1000 x 1000 (Images that are over will automatically be resized)
• Max Total Storage Per Member: 50 MB (For time being)
• Maximum Items Per Upload: 5
• Allowed Image File Extensions: jpg ,jpeg, jpe, gif, png
• Videos: Videos must be hosted off site (ex. YouTube, Facebook, or Vimeo).
