Well, the insanity continues. Last night I was tired and it was late for me. The weather wasn't half bad and I was playing with my TV-85. I spied Jupiter over my neighbor's rooftop and decided I may as well go for it and continue learning. The forecast, which turned out to be accurate for a change, predicted lousy weather today and tonight.

I set up my 127mm Mak on the CG-4. At first I tried the camera by itself in the Mak but immediately realized I needed more magnification. In went the Meade 2x Barlow. Wow, and I don't mean it in a good way! Of course, the planet sitting close to a rooftop that has been heating up all day isn't going to be conducive to fine images. Darn cruddy video capture, actually. But, what the heck, I need to jump into imaging planets.

Just now I finished playing with Registax and came up with this image. Nothing to write home about, but it is my first. Actually, I'm surprised it came out as decent as it did. As I continue to take baby steps and learn I realize I have a long way to go. Oh yeah, I'm having fun!

Nothing wrong with that Ed, it's a good image, especially since Jupiter mostly just looks like a star to me so far. I think I even see a couple moons out in the dark?
I recently picked up an Antares 2x twist top barlow so maybe that, combined with my 10mm Plossl will get me there.

I just noticed the moons, too. They're Io and Europa, not sure which is which.

After sliding the images up & down a few times, I'm still undecided as to which I like better. Looks great either way!
