I have an Explore Scientific "Essential Series" ED80 Triplet. It's a nice scope optically, but the focuser is crap.

Are there any after market focusers for this thing that are plug and play? Even my old GSO 2-speed was way
    better than this stock one.

Peter, our host sells a number of retrofit focusers. Check them out and talk to Manish about your problem. He can probably help. Based on my own experience, I have nothing but positive things to say about him and his company.

Lewis has a good point, as an adapter or new part will be needed to install a new focuser. Then there are many choices for a focuser, from Feather touch to Chinese. Nice grab and go scope! I have the WO Fluorite in that size, love the thing! And even though the focuser is a good one its no feather touch.

Good point. I bought a 2" GSO replacement from Agena for my Orion 90 mm ShortTube discontinued about fifteen years ago and the 86 mm version fits perfectly. Check with tech support; with some measurements of the OTA a GSO might fit. Although your scope does not show in the compatibility table, there might be a fit.
