Looking at Amazon Warehouse I came across this brand of telescope.
It appears to be similar to the Starsense Explorer but half the price.
The mount is the Orion Versago E

It says " 2 ED(Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements, chromatic aberration corrected for accurate color reproduction. "

    Also unusual eyepieces

I believe this fills a niche among people who simply want something to casually look at the sky a few times and then either put it away in a closet corner, or relegate it to the green circular file. Kellner eyepieces, 45* diagonal, plastic focuser, and many more giveaways of cost cutting. The one thing that really got my attention was the video showing a DSLR in the focuser. I have experience using DSLRs and Binoviewers in these design focusers. It can be made to work, but..... In my opinion, worth every penny you paid for it, it's simply an impulse item.

I've be come friends with a guy in my neighborhood who bought this about 6 weeks ago.

I don't want to insult him, so I am trying to tune it up, at least it's not a Bird Jones.

Finder completely useless, mount won't tighten on one axis, fixed collimation.

Slapped a Telrad on it, trying new bolts on mount, focuser still needs work. Finally saw the Moon.

But hey it's German the guy says and the instructions are in German so it must be good right?

POS, with a bad GEM and German instructions from China!

I really hate doing outreach when someone just grabs something off Amazon without any thoughts, maybe I should just tell him he got ripped off.

What interests me is the dual finder shoe that holds both the finder and the smartphone plus they now have copied Celestrons Starsense software. Heck the scope is only $180 and has the versagoE tripod as well

I would never get a newtonian on an EQ mount from a no-name brand.. LOL

Most of these 'high tech' telescope mounts are only made by a small group of manufacturers so you see them appear under different names all of the time.
Most are sold for 1/3 USA pricing and are overpriced at that.

The traditional 24.5 mm (0.965") eyepiece was being changed to 31.7 mm (1.25") by the mid 70s and they were getting hard to find by the end of the 80s. Typical Chinese marketting, it must have been written by somebody from SVBony.
Unfortunate that even their okulars at that size would not fit a standard focuser.

I will not even comment on the glass...

You are so correct: Their eyepieces are 1.00 inch and expand to 1.4 inch. What a weird design
As to the copywriting.... it is from China. Enough said on this.. LOL
For $100 I am interested in three things.
1 - Svbony has a Skylight 1 mount now on the market that would fit on the tripod
2 - I wonder what the glass is - minor interest
3 - Their starsense tracker interests me. In particular the way it affixes to the finder shoe.

Heck I can return it with full refund by Jan 31. What is there to lose?
The tracking system and tripod are worth over $100

Well as a doublet you cannot have a lens set made of 2 different ED glasses as there would not be enough dispersion between the 2 elements.
In a ED doublet you need a high dispersion ( usually something like BK7 or lanthanum) and a low dispersion from one of the usual culprits (FK-61 up to FPL-55)
Even if FK-61 is used the package pricing would not even cover the cost of a grade 4 ED lens.
    Most likely a achromat.

It would be very interesting to put one on my test stand.

I do not believe the optics comments whatsoever. Am only interested in what I wrote about.
One nice thing is that there are two screws to hold the dovetail to the mount clamp.

Oh well, physics is physics :)

Hopefully the mount works well for you.
With all of the new automated point and shoot astro cameras on the market today
    it should do reasonably well.

I forgot to mention in my last posting that if you are looking for a double finder scope shoe, Orion Telescope has sold them for quite some time.

the scope has a proprietary double finder shoe.. One for the finder and one for their special smart phone holder to use their proprietary software.
    thanks for the info.
happy turkey day from the USA.

I missed that in the images of the telescope.
At least they made something to keep the phone centered on the telescope axis.

The Orion dual is popular with imagers as you can put a finder on one side and a small guide scope on the other.

    Have a good thanksgiving holiday.
