    Hi George

I'm sure you've been ask about adding a section for classic telescopes (you need a different name) that includes restorations, repair, antique telescopes (brashear, clark) and all that goes with collecting the old cherished scopes. I like the clean look of the software you are using and it appears to be more updated than others out there on the internet. Great stuff so far and I will set up a link on my site as things progress.

But consider it. We (telescope collectors) are a different breed and sometimes don't fit with the new gear on the block.

    Just a suggestion . . .

    Hey @Turk ,

Yes it has been brought up a few times now. I believe we are leaning towards starting a new forum soon, but it is still under discussion. Initially we wanted to limit the categories and forums available until the site had reach some sort of critical mass where we would need to split popular forums up into specific topics.

As we have had a number of people come to the site who are specifically into classic scopes I believe it will be in the works sooner than later.

One of the features that we want people to start learning how to use is the forum prefix and tag system for categorizing types of threads. We were planning on allowing users to prefix the title of their thread with the type of thread it is (ex. Discussion, Question, Experience, or Observation). Obviously the prefix selection will be forum specific. The other part of the categorization is using the built in tag system. We want members to categorize their posts to best reflect the topic. This way it will be easier to find related posts in the future or filter out only the threads you would like to see.

So for the time being I would like to offer you guys a thread prefix that can be used in any of the forums within the equipment category. This way when we do decided to create a new forum specifically for classic equipment we can easily move those threads over.

I have created the thread prefix "Vintage Equipment" but let me know if you guys would like it to be something else. I tried to come up with a name that would encompass not just scopes but everything related to that category. To use a thread prefix you select one at the time of posting a new thread. I'll have to test later if normal users have permission to update this after the thread has been started but if not I'll make that change.

I like the tag system! I can see where it will come in handy later on searches. Good idea.

Yea it's enabled and you should be able to start adding tags to your thread but on the thread list view we currently do not display them because they were a feature that was added to Xenforo while we were getting ready for launch so we didn't get a chance to style them properly to display them in the list view. But it's on our very long todo list :)

It looks like you cannot add a tag After its posted and in edit mode. It would be nice to be able to add tags after a post in case you forget to add the tag when originally posted.

I will put it on our task list to look at when I get into the office tomorrow.
It may be a permission issue.

Due to the links to AC I have been posting all over, I think "Classic Telescope Forum" should be sooner rather than later.... And for the sake of the Classic Telescope Community "Classic Telescope Forum" is a great name. Just a thought.

Ok, I am on board with vintage equipment forum due to the tags. Makes it really nice to have the sub categories. Awesome.
