As you develop the forums, I'd like to suggest that you keep an open mind about pictures, and whatever policy you might put in place.

Not everyone will read every thread in real time. Sometimes one will find an interesting thread a few weeks or months after it has been posted. And on some sites, the thread looks like this:

    Amazing and Unique Telescope

"I just found an amazing and unique telescope! I've never seen anything like this! You have to see it to believe it! Here's a picture:"

    [Picture removed at moderator's request]

    "Whoa! That's amazing!"

"Yes it is! Here's another view:"

    [Picture removed at moderator's request]

    "That's unbelievable!"
    ...
    -----------

At this point I'm ready to punch my monitor. I will never know what they were talking about, because for some obscure policy reason the picture was removed. I think you know what I mean, and you may have seen it yourself. Please don't do that.

Copyright issues possibly happening when pictures are removed? I only post photos or images I've created that are completely my own. Using links to others' sites with their images for showing is what I've been lead to believe is okay. What is it to be here?

If the photo(s) does not belong to you or you do not have the rights/permission to use it. It should not be posted in the forum. Now as @Crow Haven mentioned you can put a link to the page that its hosted on if you want to share it. It's also good web etiquette to not hotlink images from other sites as it uses up the other sites bandwidth.

I'll make sure to include some do and don't when it comes to posting images.

We don't plan on removing images unless there are copyright issues. If something ends up disappearing in the future it will most likely be due to someone not uploading the picture and hotlinking it directly from a remote host. Usually if to much bandwidth is being taken up they will block the offending site. Or it just could be a good old missed backup of the original file and didn't get transfered over properly of it was a really old post.
