We are very pleased to announce and release a new feature on AstronomyConnect.com – Product Measurement Tables (PMT).

How often have you wondered if a certain eyepiece will reach focus in your telescope? Or the size of that lost replacement end-cap for your eyepiece? Or which Paracorr setting is best for a given eyepiece?

Our Product Measurement Tables will help you answer these questions, and many more.

We have released our first table that lists the compatibility of hundreds of eyepieces with Agena’s popular plastic bolt cases (eyepiece containers). But we need your help to compile more data for this table. To the right of the compatibility table at the above link, you will also see a link to a simple form you can use to submit your data for eyepieces not already on our list.

In the coming weeks, we will be releasing similar PMTs with the following information:
    • Optical path lengths of 1.25” and 2” diagonals
    • Telescope dewshield sizes and solar filter compatibility
    • Focus point of all eyepieces in a telescope (relative to each other)
    • Replacement end cap sizes for eyepieces
    • Back-focus requirements of barlows, reducers, cameras, etc.
Other PMTs that we have planned include:
    • Optimal paracorr settings for individual eyepieces
    • Measured (usable) eye relief of eyepieces
    • Measured AFOV (apparent field of view) of eyepieces
    • Telescope tube diameters (for tube ring compatibility)
    • Replacement screw specifications (for barlows, finder rings, telescopes, etc.)

What other measurements of astronomy products would you like to see? Let us know in the thread below.

We will also publish our testing/measurement procedures so that Astronomy Connect readers can perform similar measurements and share their data here. We can perform these measurements for products sold by Agena, but there are still hundreds of current and discontinued products in the astronomy marketplace that we do not have access to. So input from owners of these products will be an important contribution and will improve the completeness and usefulness of these tables for the astronomical community.

We hope you find these tables useful.
