Wow, that's eating the hair of the hot dog that bit you lol. My next door neighbour has a labrador that often barks at me. I'm sure he'd bite me if he could get at me. Mind you, he barks at anything, including cats, thunder, the wind, bees and even himself. If I cooked and ate him he'd probably give me the runs.

Luckily it's just not that easy to infect Ubuntu. ;)

You should be able to burn an image/ISO to disc (DVD or CD) and run it from an optical drive on Windows to experiment with the OS before you install it. When you want to go back to using Windows you just remove the disc. Although, remember if you permanently install it on a Windows machine without making a dual boot partition it will delete Windows totally.

These links should give you the information you need.

Great, Mak! Just what the psychiatrist ordered!

I'll go dust-off my CD-Drive and find a blank disc. And study-up on creating the partition.

    Now I'm off - back to hunting a delivery-driver.....<shoot-out music here>

I believe you can actually buy the ISO image pre-burned to a DVD from Canonical.

    https://www.canonical.com

Canonical are based in the UK but I think the DVD's are available anywhere. It's easy enough to download the ISO and burn it though. I can do it, so anyone can lol. My Lenovo laptop had Ubuntu 14.04 'Trusty Tahr' pre-installed.

    Will Kansas do?

    Ah... Kansas!

A state true to the principles of the flat-headed fake-newsies. For sometime, it seems they'd legally banned the teaching of science in their schools. 'Creationism' only! People like us would have been deported (or 'departed'). But they had to roll back on this after they discovered their Little Eggberts' and Tiffanys' couldn't get into any mainstream colleges or universities without any science in their widdle, flat-heads! Oh! Bo! Ho! Ho!

Learn to watch the Wizard Of Oz and cheer for the tornado that's plowing up Kansas.

And look to see about this lady. I believe she's now the chairwoman of the Kansas Board of Education.....

Oh yeah, while I'm rambling on about Ubuntu, CdC and Stellarium run really well on it. Media players like VLC and SMPlayer (both originally coded for Linux) run probably better than on Windows.

The main advantage of Ubuntu (or any 'nix distro), apart from its speed and lightness, for me is the security aspect. You won't need an anti-virus program at all.
