Manufacturer Description
Many introductory telescopes sold worldwide use a smaller, older 0.965" diameter format for diagonals, eyepieces, and other accessories. Having a 0.965" barrel severely limits the number of eyepieces and accessories you can buy and use in the after-market. This popular eyepiece adapter allows 1.25" eyepieces, diagonals, and other accessories to be used in 0.965" focusers, and at once allows hundreds of more common 1.25" format astronomy items to be used with your telescope.
Precision machined from black anodized aluminum, this premium adapter includes a brass compression ring that restrains the eyepiece and prevents marring of the eyepiece barrel by the metal set-screw. Total height = 1.74" (44.2mm). Height of upper 1.25" barrel = 1.04" (26.4mm). Height of lower 0.965" barrel = 0.7" (17.8mm). Weight = 1.4oz.
Please note that the use of extension/conversion tubes such as this item requires additional in-focus travel. If your eyepiece is fully seated in the 1.25" upper barrel, then you will require 1.04" of additional in-focus travel. If your eyepiece does not fully seat in the barrel and extends out, then you will require additional in-focus travel by the amount the eyepiece extends out. As in the case of barlows, focal reducers, diagonals, and other accessories, your telescope may or may not be able to accommodate this additional travel requirement, so you may not be able to reach focus with all eyepieces and configurations. That is technically a limitation of the mechanical design of the telescope and not a shortcoming of the product itself.

Jan 28, 2018My review of this adapter
Pros: Cons: Comments:I bought this for use with an older Celestron C90. The .965 side is a little loose requiring you to make sure its flush before tightening the set screw. Otherwise works fine. Been cloudy ever since getting it (of course).

Nov 29, 2013Perfect tool for the job!
Pros:Easy to Use,Lightweight,Good finish,Compression Ring,Strong Construction
Cons: Comments:This an excellent solution for adapting your better 1.25" EPs to a .965 focuser common on older scopes, especially refractors. Well made with a nice compression fitting for retaining the EPs, and light enough not to unbalance the scope. DO NOTE that this may not work in all reflectors due to additional focus travel needed, but works perfectly in the vintage refractor I've restored. Nice piece of gear at a good price, and quick shipping by Agena, as usual!

Sep 21, 2012Finder Eyepiece Upgrade
Pros:Compact,Accurate,Easy to Use
Cons: Comments:The purchased product was used on my telescpe finder scope to allow the use of 1.25 eyepieces in lieu of the .965 supplied. Thought about making one but the accuracy of my attempt would not match the quality and precision of this part. An excellent part!

Jun 29, 2012Works great with my ETX-125

Nov 5, 2011Eyepiece adapter is great
Pros:Accurate,Lightweight,Compact,Easy to Use,Strong Construction,Quality Lenses

Oct 28, 2011Finally found one that works!
Pros:Strong Construction,Accurate
Cons:Difficult To Focus
Comments:The older telescopes, and the refractor and reflectors being sold in many hobby stores are still not using the 1.25 eyepieces. All the adapters for the camera body assume the 1.25 inch focus tube. Ended up with the fireball adapter, trimmed a 2x barlow to compensate for the long barrel on the adapter and the focal plane of the camera adapter, the camera adapter, and my EOS 20D body to my 3" reflector. MOONSHOT!! Great photos.

Apr 30, 2010Superb Adapter
Pros:Strong Construction
Cons: Comments:A forum leader reports that most 0.965" to 1.25"adapters have only 19mm of clear aperture. This one has 22mm, to better reduce the possibility of vignetting from the adapter. Machined aluminum construction allows such thin but strong walls. Compression ring protects barrels. I'd prefer a safety groove but respect that half the buyers hate them, and so will not penalize my rating.

Oct 29, 2009Nice surprise
Pros:Well made
Cons:None
Comments:Great quality for a modest price. I've used hybrid diagonals in my .965 scopes but the Blue Fireball adapter beats them all for my usage. This adapter works very well with the light weight .965 diagonals. It's a pleasure to use some classic 1.25" orthoscopics in my classic scopes again.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? YesAug 30, 2009Excellent adapter for vintage .965 scope
Pros:Strong Construction
Cons: Comments:This adapter allows me to use 1 1/4 eyepiece in my vintage Tasco 10TE and 7TE5. It is of solid construction and works great. No complaints. Highly recommended.

Jun 3, 2009Highly useful
Pros:Strong Construction
Cons: Comments:Last year I acquired a vintage Tasco 10TE refractor which had an old style 0.965 drawtube. I have some excellent 1.25" diagonals I wanted to use with this scope and this adapter allows me to do just that. It holds the diagonal solidly.

Jun 3, 2009Excellent Adapter for Older Telescopes
Pros:Excellent quality. Compression ring is nice touch
Cons:May not have enough in-focus to use on some telescopes.
Comments:This excellent adapter allows you to use your 1.25" eyepieces in older 0.965" focusers. Very high quality with nice compression ring system. Much better quality than the competition. The only Con to this item is that you may not have enough in-focus to use on some telescopes. This is not a fault of the adapter so I did not take any points off.

May 27, 2009Great accessory for C90!
Pros:Strong Construction,Compact,Accurate
Cons:NO CONS
Comments:I got this to use as a straight-through adapter for a Celestron C90. It is perfect in this role for terrestrial use with my 1-1/4" diagonals and eyepieces.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
Solid unit with very nice compression ring - quality!
No negatives - just what it says it is and good at it!This review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com
May 26, 2009Good fix for a small problem
Pros:Focus change workable,Good fit,Strong Construction
Cons: Comments:I bought a 4" reflector at a garage sale to use while traveling. It had only one cheap eyepiece so was practically unusable. With the eyepiece adapter I was able to use my eyepieces from my big scope with out any problem. With this adapter I have a very usable traveling scope at a bargain price.
