This model is compatible with all 11" optical tubes.

A Lens Shade/Dew Cap is a tube, of approximately the same diameter as your telescope tube, designed to fit on the front end of the telescope to reduce the amount of dew that builds up on the corrector plate. It also serves as a Len Shade by preventing stray light from falling on the corrector plate, which greatly improves contrast.

Product carries full 2 year Celestron factory limited warranty (within US/Canada only).

      3.0 Poor Lens Shade / Good Dew Shield

      I actually purchased the Celestron Lens Shade/Dew Shield for an 8-inch Synta Newtonian to keep dew off the secondary mirror. Like other Dew Shields of the same design, its design is simple and it works. As a Lens Shade, there's an issue that actually surprised me. The inside of the dew shield is covered with the same semi-shiny textured black vinyl as the outside. Flock or any other non-reflective material would be a big improvement. This is a good Dew Shield but I can't really recommend it as a Lens Shade. Still, if you just need a dew shield as I did, I do recommend it.

      2.0 Cheap construction

      This product has the Celestron name stamped on it but it definetely feels like a cheap knockoff style product. It might work better on an 8" SCT but, because of the excess material to be used for an 8", it is unwieldy for use on a 6" SCT. I'm considering trimming the excess off. If I had to do it over again, I'd pay the extra money for the next higher quality dew shield. All that being said, it does work.
