Galileo G-102MD2 120mm/1000mm FL
Pros:Light weight, tracks very well, easy setup, nice accessories
Cons:Lock bolts unscrew, slight mount and focuser wobble
Comments:Yeah, this might not be one of the best known name telescopes around, but I will share my thoughts on how this Galileo G-102MD2 preformed. For its size, completely put together, I could pick this up with one hand. It's very easy to put together and also has some nice extras included. For a 4.1" 1/4 wave primary, it does show very good detail on planets and some deep space objects but really doesn't take in a whole lot of light. Its smaller secondary is just the right size for CCD imaging using what I did, a webcam. The 1.25" focuser worked very well with just a tiny bit of focus slack. Also has a multi-coated lens inside the focuser.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
It holds its collimation very well, which I didn't have to touch even right out of the box. It also comes with a 1.25" color filter wheel with two 1.25" filters, a nebula filter, a dark yellow filter and an empty spot. Also comes with a pretty good 1.25" 20mm and a 1.25" 6.8mm to 21mm zoom EP with a good FOV. The hand controller takes 4 AA batteries and both drives work very well for a telescope of this price. From time to time, the lock bolts on both axis do need to be re-tightened, but this is not a big issue though. The mars red dot finder also works great and only needs adjustment once!Sort by
