This specialty eyepiece is very useful for astrophotographers who need to lock onto guide stars, or for observers aligning their telescope or making astronomical measurements. The etched reticle pattern is internally red illuminated to stand out against a dark sky.

The Meade Series 4000 9mm Illuminated Plossl eyepiece may well be the world's finest commercially available illuminated reticle. Meade has outfitted a quality 4-element, fully coated Plossl with a fully illuminated double-crossline and two concentric circles, plus x-y positioning controls that make locking onto a guide star noticeably easier. The upper (lens) section of this eyepiece rotates on a fine thread for precise diopter adjustment to the user's eye.

The Meade 1.25" Plossl 9mm Illuminated Reticle Eyepiece Corded Model includes 6 ft. cord and connector for direct plug-in to the control panels of Meade LX200, LX200GPS, and ED/APO telescopes. Separation of the power source and eyepiece permits reticle brightness adjustments to be made during an exposure without risk of vibrating the telescope. Red LED brightness control is effected from the telescope's hand controller or control panel.
