      <content:encoded><![CDATA[Today I built a heating pad for my 12&quot; mirror, for when it&#039;s time to get freezing telescope inside of the house during winter, this gentle heater will slowly reheat the mirror for an hour while the telescope is resting in it&#039;s bag, this will prevent dew formation on the mirror. <br />
<br />
It&#039;s 2.49w total, very gentle but also very effective for slow heating. <br />

      <content:encoded><![CDATA[The right-angled Amici roof prism, also referred to as a direct vision or erecting prism, was invented by the Italian astronomer Giovanni Amici (1786-1863). Roof prisms contain a section where two of the roof faces meet at a 90° angle. Reflection from these faces produces an image that is laterally flipped. A conventional right-angled prism, as utilised in a star diagonal, will deviate the light path by 90° and simultaneously invert the image.<br />

My Celestron Nature 10x50, which I have had for appx 9 years, performed very well and in fact did an excellent job for astronomy purposes.  Their cost was reasonable (under $100), they were nitrogen purged, had BK4 lens, and were fully MC.<br />

      <content:encoded><![CDATA[I&#039;m buying s new Black Diamond Spot headlamp, and I&#039;m thrilled to see that they have improved the headlamp that was fantastic to start with.  Now brighter, and submersible.  <br />

      <content:encoded><![CDATA[I&#039;m trying to understand the math/science elements that affect my ability to effectively use binoculars in low light.  It&#039;s like trying to teach a horse to add.   He can stamp his hoof and amaze people, but he really isn&#039;t adding anything.  <br />

So here goes.  I understand that as we get older, we lose some of our low light seeing ability.  I&#039;ve seen this expressed in the exit pupil.    A young person will be able to open the pupil to 7mm, where an old guy like me can likely only reach 5mm....<br />
