I rather got the hint! :D

Be careful not to let 'The Grammer-Nazi' take over. Your next address will be 'Ivory-Tower #666' and nobody would understand a word you say. I have to remind myself not to do the same. That's why I have to make a conscious effort to dumb-down my use of "University-English."

They'll presume you're crazy. Or you're stupid. But it is fun to lead people down the trail to believe your crazy - and then give em' both barrels proving that while you may be crazy - it's quite obvious that they are utterly stupid!

    Everyone needs a hobby! :D

I'll go with crazy (I won't even mention you've spelt grammar incorrectly).

My Firefox is self-destructing before my eyes! What ever they "upgraded" this version into- I think it's becoming a voracious colony of cannibalistic termites! So don't spit on it. That's MY job!!

    Thanks, sickfish.
Yes, try a polarizing filter to cut the glare and bring out more detail. A Barlow may help as well, and try to view Venus during twilight, before it gets too dark.

I have a moon filter, I wonder if that would help.

ND filters can work a bit in my experience, but a polariser tends to really cope with the glare. Two polarisers stacked can work even better as one can be rotated to alter the transmission.

Also, catching Venus in early twilight can help reduce glare. A combination of filters and twilight observing can produce results.

Aww, Ed. Thanks, but if I can do it, any serious amateur astronomer (with a select arsenal of toys) can, lol!

True 'nuff, Reggie! A Man to my own mantra: 'Experiment! Experiment! Experiment!' :p

And you found why it's so important! But I hope no one takes this to be a reason to not to bother with trying other filters on that sizzling Onion or other technique's altogether. Or think the book is shut on it. I only hope your incredible find serves to inspire all of us to 'Keep Going!'

I sure hope so! You know the old saying - "One picture is worth a thousand words?" Get it in 'EarthSky News' for starter's would be my course of action. I would consider that a duty. All us Astro-Nuts should learn the news about your discovery! Thus everyone who peers at Venus through their eyepieces while hoping & wishing they could 'see' something - anything - on this mysterious orb would be utterly delighted with the news!

This is no grab for 'getting attention' for your own ego - this is a service to all of us! Heck! I'll be passing on the news, too!

You have my blessings, my kola! I must thank @Mak the Night for the suggestion. I've used the polarizer before only to cut down the glare, not to even attempt to see cloud detail. I sent the image to EarthSky to start...
