I quite liked The Rockford Files, not much astronomy in it though, I think that was The X Files, although come to think of it there wasn't much astronomy in that either. There was a nice Firebird Esprit in The Rockford Files, I reckon if Jimbo had sold that he could have afforded a nice 6" apo refractor.

I think you're right about the kometen disparity, I forgot that there are a plethora of different comets and with different tails. Still, the #38 might be good for Venus. TBH the weather is weird here, I did get to see Venus earlier this morning. It rained on me a bit. Bloody sun's out now!

    There's been an election?

So this is how you cope with 'pants' weather? Watch American crime-drama shows on TV? Boy! You've got it worse-off than we do! :p

We had a nice, sunny day. But as soon at the star began to set to the West? You can guess what the sky did to us. And it may rain just for good measure.

I could probably pick out a Firebird from an automotive line-up, buts that about it. I've never been a car-person. Not even a drivers-license! At age 16 (when it's legal for kids to go out and smash dad's car into tree), I ducked the 'Car-Bug.' That's when most kids get some sort of hormonal-imbalance wherein they are compelled to crash dads' vehicle. At 16, I was too busy teaching chemistry in my high-school while studying grad-school level organic-chemistry and working in my lab. I likely saved a few million $$$'s by so doing. Or enough to wish to get my hands on a good telescope - and have a good chance to save it!

I keep getting side-tracked in my checking out prices on #38 Dark Blue Filters. And I've got my eye on that Astronomik UHC-E one as well. So you're taken with the Baader colour-filters, eh? I don't have one of these - yet. Mine and mostly older Japanese Hoya ones. Which have always served me quite well.

Well I'm off to chat with my collection of Little Old Ladies I met.!

I'll leave you with a cloud to ponder -

    Dave

Pants weather coping strategies are definitely needed. Although I often deny it I do have other interests. Among other things I studied scriptwriting at university, and the police procedural drama, with character development over many years, containing through lines and advanced story arcs combined with a soap opera approach is actually a British invention from the early sixties.

Not sure what the 'Z' cars actually were though, probably the British designed Ford Zephyr/Zodiac. So yeah, one of my pants weather coping strategies is to watch Chicago PD and Law & Order lol.

The Baader colour filters are definitely unique and do differ from standard Wratten colours and transmission rates. They also fit everything, like GSO filters. GSO filters are pretty decent although they are half the price of the Baader filters. I can get them as TS Optics or Revelation (Telescope House). I've ordered a #38 from TS Optics as I'm really interested in comparing it to the Baader 435nm Darkblue.

    This book looks interesting.

And I'm getting all learned up about Venus and Mercury.
