One more bit of history: My Mogey is not engraved / branded on the focus knob; here's another unmarked Mogey 3" auctioned by Skinner. I think it has the original gray enamel lacquer paint:

Clint, I'm going to have the tube power-coated in royal blue high gloss - by professionals. I'm going to buff out the nicks and scrapes on the lens cell & focuser, and leave those uncoated - see how well the brass holds up to The Swamp's humidity. If it does as well as my Tinsley Cassegrain, I'll be a happy camper! Hope to get all that done by the end of FEB. Gotta get the very old (pre-branded) Jaegers GEM and tripod restored, too.

Pons and I powder coated the 6" F15 Uniponds Refractor. That was over 10 years ago and even with the trips to pinos there is not one scratch in the powder coating. I would say if you have to $ it a great finish. Where is a photo of the Tinsley??

Except for baffling, my Mogey is done. Got in some great views of the gibbous Moon before supper. Until I get the old Jaegers mount restored, she'll share the Edmund 4's ginormous mount & tripod.

Clear skies, but turbulent air... I did some test imaging anyway:

I think I've found a finder / guidescope for my Mogey. It'll take some work to convert this antique transit, but if the ~35mm lens is good, I can put that Triple Alliance eyepiece to good use.

The transit scope is a no-go, but I'm looking at other suitable candidates for a finderscope.

The complete kit. I'm having the scope & finder power-coated French Grey with brass trim in the next week or two. It may not have the Mogey brand, but it'll have the Mogey color!

Mogey 3 - Powder Coat OTA S01.jpg Picked up my Mogey tube today. JD powder coated it in French Grey - flash makes it look white. I installed 3 baffles, and flocked the interior, which boosted contrast.

Nice! Do you have white Cotton gloves to put on before you touch the focuser?
