How is the smoke aloft situation Mak?
It is probably going to get bad with Sweden and Greece both burning.

It was, or maybe still is, a British chocolate bar made with hazelnuts. Their advertising slogan was 'a hazelnut in every bite'. So, a bit like squirrel shite then lol. Oh, and for years 'Snickers' bars were known as 'Marathon' bars here.

I haven't seen any. I'm a fair distance from Greece though. There have been wildfires further up north. My neighbour regularly incinerates his barbecue. lol

Lucky so far, last year the fires in BC (west coast) were so bad that they were affecting the skies on the east coast in Canada and the USA

Overall seeing has varied, but that's as much to do with the temperature gradient reaching equilibrium in the night. Most transparency issues for me seem to be humidity and cloud based.

I remember during the Fort Mcmurry fires, we had a lot of smog at home, close to Montreal, that was in 2016, but i can recall smog in 2017 too.

So far in 2018, I didn't notice anything too major.

After spending some time in the Fort McMurray area my only regret is that I was not close enough to go and throw some petrol on the fire...
That is not too anti social is it??

This tar sand.. that's a strange idea. I can't talk too much about the tar sands because it's too politicized but that's an interesting subject. I heard there is a massive radioactive waste land there too, that almost burned. The materials are underground but still scary.

Or when the containers leak and get into the water-table. Califrnia wine is now radioactive from the Fukishima Japan nuclear-power earthquake and tsunami mess of 2012.

Apparently rain is radioactive in Canada from Fukushima. The sarcophagus is not finished at Chernobyl either but what's the use really? The material is leaking into the soil and water, has well has the air, out of the sarcophagus.

When this photo was taken, 10 years after the disaster, the Elephant’s Foot was only emitting one-tenth of the radiation it once had. Still, merely 500 seconds of exposure would prove fatal.

God have to soul of these poor men.

Nobody helped Ukraine, nobody is helping Japan, the US will send a bunch of lawyers in suit to make sure it's not their fault if the reactor exploded.

Nuclear energy is really impressive but I find it too dangerous, so I am against it.

The weather may just hold out for the eclipse.

Around 22:00 local time I should get a butcher's with the Little Mak.

Yes ok ok I saw the thread after, where you used your 150mm for mars. I see the sky is pretty clear here for the opposition night, i am very tired because of yesterday's observation of mars has well has a physical day of work...

But the next opposition in 2035.. If tonight is good, I might go out again. Sleep more tomorrow.

Beautifully clear this morning. Too cloudy for the eclipse though. Bloody typical!

Same here, Mak. But my gear stands ready.

We had one downpour last night - the likes of which I'd not seen, or heard, in a long time. It was coming down sideways and I had to scramble to block it's sheets from making entry! Bloody pest!

I could stand for seeing another Total Lunar Eclipse here. It's been awhile since we were in the Path of Totality of one of those. Figure it was, too, a wash-out.

    Yuck-o!

Looking on the bright side, maybe the Martian dust bowl is starting to clear.
