Site is looking great. Easy to navigate, even for an old codger like me.

George, I think that having a Classified section will juice up the site by bringing more people to AstronomyConnect and to Agena AstroProducts. What do you think and have you discussed it with Manish?

Yea we have plans for classifieds system, but currently the ones that are available for the Xenforo platform are not that great. I've been evaluating other classifieds systems and seeing how easy it would be to integrate it within our ItemHub Platform as well. To be honest there are 3-4 other things that will first need to be addressed before we implement a classifieds system. But its definitely on the books to be implemented, probably some time in the new year. Right now much of my time is tied up with Agena related upgrades for the upcoming holiday season. Once the upgrades have been made I'll will be devoting more time to AC again.

The next 2 features that will be address are media gallery and an upgrade to the Item Database that will allow users to submit new products and upload documents and related content for particular items. I am also looking to put together a template CSV file to allow people to submit products in bulk for those manufactures that want products that are not currently in our database. I'm hoping these features will become useful to the vintage equipment crowd who want to catalog these scopes in our database along with documentation.

The media gallery is pretty much done it just has a bunch of visual issues to address before we turn in on live for the public.

I just got here so just nosing around. One thing I like is that you don't lock my posts in 15 minutes. This way I can fix typos or correct bad links. I had it when the forum locks my post so quickly. 48 hours would be OK, but not 15 minutes.

I published a book in the form of a series of articles, as a series of posts on a forum. That was posted in 2008. I can go in and edit those chapters and keep them current and relevant today.

@aeajr Thanks for the feedback, I'm not sure exactly how long it was set that you can edit your post. I know the issue happens because people like to hide what they original said to avoid punishment from moderators in some cases but our system has a running log of any changes you guys make from the original so we can always go back to see what happened. I believe it is like a day or so but I would have to ask @StaringAtStars that question. In terms of posting a series of posts I would suggest you contact us before doing something like that we may work with you on using our articles system instead of making continuous posts. Not only would it be easier to maintain, it has the added benefit of not getting lost in a sea of forum threads in the future

Thanks for the reply. I should note that on the forums where I posted the book I am a moderator on each of those forums so I have extra controls there. Not looking for that here. But if I ever want to do something like that I will reach out for advice.

I just started a Blog on another forum. Exploring that has a vehicle to publish.

A friend of mine from Holland was poking around here. He's thinking of joining as well. And he raised the issue of the forum background and black lettering being a pain to the eyes. Is it possible to change the theme with this software to use a dark-gray background & white lettering? It also is more amenable to the topic at hand: Dark skies and clear viewing?

It is indeed possible. This theme was custom created after all. We actually do plan in the future to have at least 3 versions of this theme. A light, dark and a striped down bandwidth saving theme. Right now though we currently have a few ongoing development and integration projects with Astronomy Connect that will come first before many of the aesthetic changes will be made. With the current bandwidth between @StaringAtStars and myself we are a bit swamped with AgenaAstro.com and AstronomyConnect.com projects and this wont be at the top of our priority for some time. I would open a new topic for this suggestion and if it gets enough traction we can move it up in priority. At the end of the day we want to build out features that members request and want, so suggestions are always welcome. I can tell you right now many things that have been suggested have already been put into the pipeline.

I will probably making a new post this week on the state of AstronomyConnect along with some new updates.

Thank you for your reply, George. I've done a copy & paste and will fire this off to him. I'm sure he'll be happy to hear.

    Thank you -
