Manufacturer Description
This 1.25" Agena enhanced wide angle eyepiece is sure to provide many “ooohs,” “ahhhs,” and “wows” from those who take advantage of its generous 66-deg field of view. With features generally found in more expensive eyepieces, this ocular will escalate the joys of viewing with high-contrast views and amazing color correction.
This high quality eyepiece features a 4-element design that offers superior sharpness. All air to glass surfaces have a multi-layer coating (so these are fully multi-coated, even though the barrel imprint may say "multi coated") for maximum light transmission. The long eye relief allows for a comfortable viewing distance. All lens edges are blackened for superior contrast. The insert tube is smooth-sided and is threaded for standard 1.25" astronomy filters.
Order one today to start enjoying wide and comfortable high-power views of Saturn’s Rings, Jupiter’s Bands, icecaps on Mars, and more! The generous field of view of this eyepiece also allows for wide views of the Moon and deep-sky objects at moderate magnification.
Please also note that on the barrel, these are labeled as "Ultra Wide" but we call them "Enhanced Wide Angle" to distinguish them from our 80-deg UWA eyepieces.

Agena Astro Ultra Wide Angle 15mm Plossl
Pros: Cons: Comments:An amazing Plossl with much wider field of view & eye relief & eye lens diameter than its more expensive competitor. Objects appear just as sharp & false color free as the competitor. Works great in my Denkmeier binoviewer. I bought 3 to have 2 for my binoviewer & one to use with camera adapter. It fits the Scoptronix lens to C-mount adapter ring. So, big wide eye lens & fov yet still small enough outside diameter to fit inside that adapter ring - great design. I tested all 3 against each other in my binoviewer & it made no difference which pair was used, the focus matched, so great quality control. Thanks for a great optic.

Feb 5, 2016Not bad
Pros:Fov,Strong Construction,Value,Quality Lenses
Cons:Coma
Comments:Purchased for my son's Starblast 4.5 telescope as an upgrade over the stock eyepieces. He's young and I'm not sure if he's going to stick with the hobby, so wanted something economical, but good enough to encourage his interest. This was the perfect choice. The eyepiece looks good and feels well-made. Eye relief and FOV are an incredible value for the price. Colors are pure. The biggest downside is a substantial amount of coma/arcing on the outer edges. Personally, for the purposes this was purchased and given the other advantages, I can live with it.

Jan 30, 2015Great 15mm eyepiece!
Pros:Easy to Use,Accurate,Compact,Lightweight,Quality Lenses,Strong Construction
Cons: Comments:Great for my 66mm APO. Balances the scope with a 1 lb counter weight. I can now use a lightweight camera tripod.

Oct 25, 2014Worked well in binoviewer (finally)
Pros:Only 4 Glass Elements,Lightweight,Compact
Cons:Eye Relief A Bit Tricky
Comments:I purchased a pair of these for binoviewing because of their light weight, wide field of view, only 4 glass elements (good for light transmission) and the supposed long eye relief. For the first few months, it seemed like I strained my eyes every time I used them. The eye relief seemed inadequate, even though I view without glasses. I finally figured out that I need to view with the eye cups folded out, and position my face so that my eyebrows barely touch the eye cups. Once I did that...voila!! The views with these eyepieces through my Siebert Optics binoviewer are now excellent!

Mar 27, 2014I love this eyepiece!
Pros:Compact,Quality Lenses,Strong Construction,Lightweight
Cons: Comments:Works great with my f/4 Starblast 4.5 reflector telescope. Nice wide field of view with great image quality. I could easily see Jupiter's moons with this eyepiece at 30x magnification. Works great barlowed too. Maybe slight edge distortion, but that's to be expected with any wide angle eyepiece in my f/4 scope. It's a nice, compact, good quality eyepiece.

Dec 4, 2012Works well, nicely built, minimal coma.
Pros:Easy to Use
Cons: Comments:Great price for a nice lens. It really excels at deeper space stuff. You get a bright, crisp, wide view. I have a 130mm f/5 reflector and I do notice a little coma on the edges, but nothing too severe. It gives me about the same field of view as a 25mm plossl but of course with more magnification. The bonus of having a big lens is that it makes it easier to share views with kids and people who would otherwise have a hard time looking through a 10mm or smaller plossl. It's also great for the moon with a Barlow lens, you get a huge image with tons of detail.

Aug 2, 2011Functionally the same as a 15mm Expanse
Pros:Excellent widefield views
Cons:None
Comments:I was unable to find a used 15mm Orion Expanse eyepiece to match the one I have for binoviewing, so I took a chance on this version, after hearing that it is the same eyepiece at a significant savings. MY EXPERIENCE: This version and the 15mm Expanse are essentially interchangeable. During the day, I tried each eyepiece in an 80mm spotting scope and found I could go from one to the other with no difference in views. In my 127mm refractor, not only were the views of M15 and Comet Garradd also identical, but I was able to use this eyepiece with the Expanse in my binoviewers with excellent results. This eyepiece is a great value!

Apr 17, 2011Work's Great!
Pros:Strong Construction,Accurate,Quality Lenses
Cons: Comments:I use this with my Astromaster 150. It works great. I actually got the whole set. I strongly recommend all of them for a newbie like myself, they make your telescope so much more useful.

Jan 5, 2011High quality, inexpensive EP
Pros:Strong Construction,Accurate,Quality Lenses
Cons: Comments:I will never use my old SMA EP's again. :D This EP is just awesome. Clear, crisp, nice FOV and eye relief. I still remove my glasses because I like to look without them but I can leave them on and view just fine without compromising my view too much. I wish I would have bought the set to save some money because the amount you save is almost that of one of the EP.
