Agena AstroProducts is pleased to bring you a superb line of UWA (Ultrawide Angle) eyepieces. Some of these are the same eyepieces that are also sold under other brand names such as Moonfish (Europe), 1 rpd, BW Optik, Burgess, etc. By purchasing these same eyepieces directly from the manufacturer in large quantities, we are able to pass our savings on to you.
Agena's UWA eypieces are available in two barrel sizes (1.25" and 2") and five focal lengths (11mm, 15mm, 16mm, 20mm and 30mm). The Agena Ultrawides are serious wide angle eyepieces at very affordable prices. Contrast and correction is very good for low power viewing of larger deep sky objects. The AFOV (apparent field of view) of the 16mm UWA claimed by the manufacturer is 80-deg, but we have found this to be closer to 75-deg due to a slightly smaller field stop that improves edge sharpness.
All UWA eyepieces feature high-index glass optics with high light transmission and each surface is fully multi-coated (FMC) to help you gain the most from your telescope. The lens edges are also blackened. Field correction is good, but - as must be expected of such eyepieces - edge performance will begin to soften when coupled with short focal ratio telescopes (i.e. less than f/6). There is no kidney bean effect and no ghosting. All focal lengths feature eye relief ranging from 9mm to 22mm depending on the model, but usable eye relief is a bit tight in the 11mm and 16mm eyepieces. The chrome barrels are threaded for standard 1.25" or 2" filters. The upper barrels are black anodized and feature a rubber grip ring. All-in-all, you will find these to offer very sharp, high contrast images with excellent aberration correction.
The 30mm eyepiece has been sold for several years as the 1 rpd and Moonfish Ultrawide. In fact, the Moonfish branded eyepiece was declared a "Best Buy" by the U.K.'s BBC Sky At Night magazine in its Nov 2005 issue. This eyepiece was the overall winner and it beat other well known eyepieces as the Celestron 34mm Axiom, Meade 28mm Series 5000 SWA and the TeleVue 31mm Type 5 Nagler! Our 20mm and 30mm 2" UWA eyepieces both have a 49mm filter thread (male) at the top end of the eyepiece, under the eyeguard, that you can use with an appropriate camera adapter (sold separately) for digital projection photography through the eyepiece.
We also include a free bolt case with each eyepiece you purchase (a $2.75 - $5.50 value!)

It's pretty much the only choice.Pros:
Strong Construction,CompactCons: Comments:
This is pretty much the only choice for reticle eyepieces and for finder scopes. And it is only available here. I did purchase another brand a while back that had a flashing feature but it was big, bulky, and broke after first use.
It would be nice for these things to turn off automatically after a few hours of non use. I just can't seem to remember to turn them off and I'm always replacing batteries.
