Manufacturer Description
Available in ten sizes to fit most eyepieces and many other accessories, Agena's high quality cases are made of polypropylene plastic and have hex ends so they don't roll when put down on a flat surface. These cases open and close with a twist motion and can be adjusted in length.
How to select a bolt case for your eyepiece:
Measure the maximum diameter (usually the upper part of the eyepiece barrel) and length of your eyepiece. Then select the closest bolt case that is slightly larger than both these dimensions by using this bolt case dimension and eyepiece compatibility table. Note that the first number in bolt case model refers to the maximum inner diameter and the second number refers to its minimum inner length (without foam inserts). The inner length is variable for all bolt cases. Here's an example. Let's assume that you measure the diameter of an eyepiece to be 34mm and its length to be 70mm. In this case, the 37x60 bolt case would work well.
The cases we offer are the exact same cases sold by many other US retailers and you could end up paying twice as much at some other places! As with all other products we sell, our prices include shipping. But that is not all. We include 2 pieces of 9mm thick polyethylene foam inserts for the top and bottom of each case for extra eyepiece protection - a feature unmatched by many others. You can also purchase extra foam inserts for shorter eyepieces or for bolt cases purchased elsewhere.
Depending on available stock, the case you receive might have a transparent, semi-transparent or opaque finish. Please click here to see the finish each case is currently available in.

Agena Starguider 5mm Eyepiece
Pros: Cons: Comments:Used this eyepiece on an Astro Tech 73mm refractor, Celestron 8SE and a Meade 150mm f/12 Maksutov. I am comparing this eyepiece to a Meade 5000 HD-60. I find the Agena 5mm eyepiece had a darker background, better color rendition and a generally brighter image than the Meade. For the price this is an excellent eyepiece and is far better than many beginner eyepieces.

Jun 28, 2019They work.
Pros: Cons: Comments:They do exactly what they are designed to do. They screw together snug, but not overly tight, and the protect my eyepieces. Perfect.

May 25, 2019Agena Eyepiece Container
Pros: Cons: Comments:Product is very well made and comes with two foam inserts unlike all the others I viewed on the internet that only come with one foam insert and others have no foam insert. These inserts add protection to your eyepiece. Agena also has a eyepiece size chart you can view to make certain you order the right eyepiece container. Great product at a great price.

Pros: Cons: Comments:If you use bolt case
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
This one is as good as it gets. I personally don't use them.. as I " case" all my Ep's. But if I'm taking only a few out I'll leave the end caps inside & use the bolts
I don't lose the end caps in the dark. I am Confident the bolts will protect the EP"s
I would recommend them to folks , there robust & thread up wellThis review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com
Apr 19, 2019Bolt Eyepiece Containers Provide Ultimate Protection
Pros: Cons: Comments:Agena AstroProducts bolt-style containers provide excellent protection for my expensive eyepieces. And the are available in several sizes for 1.24” and 2” eyepieces.

Mar 29, 2019It's a plastic container for your eyepieces
Pros: Cons: Comments:It's literally a plastic container for your eyepieces, containing impact-softening foam. It's hard to give it any positives or negatives, considering it's like reviewing a lunch box. It contains things. It's literally a box. 10/10, would keep things in containers again.

Feb 13, 2019Great Storage Containers!
Pros: Cons: Comments:I have lots of these bolt cases; all of my eyepieces are in them. They adjust for varying heights and have a piece of foam on each end for added protection. I use a larger one for my focal reducer and even have one for a Rigel Quik-Finder. These cases make grabbing a few eyepieces for a star party handy, and they are well protected. Great product!

Feb 8, 2019Eye piece containers
Pros: Cons: Comments:These are great containers. I especially like the foam padding in both ends which provides that extra layer of cushion for your eyepiece. The only reason for the 4 rating is that one of the containers I received was very hard to open and close at first....the threads did not seem to match. But after a bit of use, it is now a bit better.

Jan 26, 2019GREAT EYEPIECE CONTAINERS!
Pros: Cons: Comments:I have purchased a number of eyepieces from Agena, the 2" SWA series. These come standard with those so my own experience was 'a nice added touch.' Personally I keep my eypieces with lens caps on them in several foam fitted hard cases. However if you prefer them individually or in a different carrying mode, these offer great protection in an easy on/easy off container. These will also aid in shock protection due to their corrugated construction and afford additional security should you inadvertently drop one.

Jan 14, 2019Eyepiece container
Pros: Cons: Comments:These are very nice eyepiece containers. It’s very cool that Agena Astro includes one with an eyepiece purchase.

Dec 30, 2018Works great--with a little help
Pros: Cons: Comments:I found it frustrating to try to screw the cap on and off the 52x80 bolt case on a cold night. A little chapstick, applied with a fingertip to the threads inside the cap, solved the problem perfectly.

Dec 23, 2018Great eyepiece cases!
Pros: Cons: Comments:These cases are the way to go. I plan on getting more of them to help protect all the eyepieces of quality I own.

Dec 22, 2018Eyepiece container
Pros: Cons: Comments:A nice surprise to find this eyepiece container included in the package with my new Baader 24 - 8 mm zoom. It is much appreciated and will come in handy. Thanks!

Dec 5, 2018Terrific Protection
Pros: Cons: Comments:Love the two part design. Not only are these great at protecting eyepieces when they are stored inside my eyepiece case, the top part is also great for keeping dew off of my eyepiece when it's in my scope and the scope is outside cooling down. I also really like the foam pads at both ends. Good design and very useful product.

Nov 10, 201865x80mm Bolt Case
Pros: Cons: Comments:I just received the 65x80mm bolt cases to replace two that came with my Bresser 70° 6 piece eyepiece set. These are better quality than the original Bresser/ES factory bolt cases the eyepieces came in, which had no foam inserts allowing the eyepieces to flop around inside the cases. The foam inserts in the Agena bolt cases hold the eyepieces securely in place within the bolt cases. The Agena bolt cases are also made to closer tolerances/fit between the upper and lower case halves resulting in a more secure fit.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
Seeing first hand the difference in quality between the Agena bolt cases and the ones my eyepieces came in from the manufacturer, I will be ordering additional cases to replace the rest of the original set. This review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com

Oct 31, 2018telescope eyepieces
Pros: Cons: Comments:Hello,
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
I recently bought some telescope eyepieces from AgenaAstro and found them of high quality. I added them to my telescope equipment and I am very satisfied with their quality views and accessible pricing. I am very happy with the products that AgenaAstro offers and I recommend them to anyone who is looking for high quality telescope equipment at a price that even I can afford. I am retired and on Social Security and the price has to be good or I can't buy it. I give this website an A+ rating. Thanks AgenaAstro for great products. Aug 31, 2018Agena Eyepiece Containers
Pros: Cons: Comments:I received eyepiece containers for my 2” 30mm, 42mm, and 50mm GSO SuperView eyepieces. The helical threading on these dense polyethylene plastic containers is easy to attach and adjust to fully protect your valuable eyepieces. I recommend purchasing these containers from Agena.

Aug 24, 2018Good for added protection
Pros: Cons: Comments:This came with my 17mm Nagler, so now I have a bolt case that fits my eyepiece or a can of beer. Seriously, it's a great case and Agena is kind enough to include one with the eyepieces you purchase from them.

Aug 22, 2018Eyepiece Container - 60x80mm - PACC-AG-BC6580
Pros: Cons: Comments:Good design but a somewhat flimsy. The container's wall thickness should be increased a bit.

Aug 13, 2018Great invention
Pros: Cons: Comments:I love these bolt eyepiece containers and have several in different sizes. They are so convenient to use in the field.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? YesThis review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com
Jul 23, 2018Not a bad container
Pros: Cons: Comments:Not a bad contianer overall. I like the twist off design, but the container itself is very soft and I don't see where it will provide a lot of protection to the eyepiece. My camera lens containers are much sturdier.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? YesThis review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com
Jul 9, 2018Great protection for eyepieces
Pros: Cons: Comments:I bought several of these in varying sizes for all my eyepieces. They fit nicely in the drawer in my observatory, and there is plenty of room for outside labeling making identification of the eyepiece a snap. With the foam pads at each end of the container each eyepiece is solidly in place and well protected inside.

Jun 26, 2018Eyepiece Cases

May 22, 2018Good little container
Pros: Cons: Comments:It works well, snug and fits right. But if you have eyepieces that cost you a couple hundred dollars, you probably will not use this.

Apr 20, 2018Simple-compact-secure
Pros: Cons: Comments:I purchased a set of these cases after I had bought a new ES eyepiece and it came with a free case. This changes how I'll manage my eyepieces, its really a good method of protecting them and allowing for easy access.

Feb 1, 2018Agena Eyepiece containers
Pros: Cons: Comments:I bought these to hold a specific item. One of the things I liked was they gave me the exact dimensions so I could be certain I got the right size. When it came it was nice and sturdy and had cushions to fit both ends. I did stick them in place with a dab of glue, but that was desireable but not necessary. I found them to be a very good product.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? YesThis review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com
Jan 30, 2018Came with my eyepiece
Pros: Cons: Comments:This fits the 40mm William Optics SWAN eyepiece. It is a perfect fit and screws on well. I have another 2" eyepiece that came with my Orion 2" 2x Barlow, and that case doesn't screw on tightly. That case came directly from Orion.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? YesThis review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com
Jan 19, 2018EP Container
Pros: Cons: Comments:Screws together instead of telescoping so if your ep is tall it is nice t just loosely holding on. The foam disks inside stop the ep from banging around.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? YesThis review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com
Jan 4, 2018Meets expectationa

Dec 14, 2017Agena Eyepiece Container - 52x80mm
Pros: Cons: Comments:These containers offer great protection of eyepieces, blocking dampness, susceptibility to scratching, and dust. As a side benefit, eyepieces that are not used during a viewing session don't have to be opened to remove unwanted dew because of the excellent moisture protection.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? YesThis review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com
Nov 8, 2017They work!
Pros: Cons: Comments:These items hold my extra microscope eyepieces perfectly! I love that they are adjustable, and the foam at each end keeps them snuggly in place and protected. You might want to spend a couple of extra $$ and get extra foam pieces for a perfect fit.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? YesThis review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com
Oct 26, 2017Recent Order
Pros: Cons: Comments:The eyepiece cases work very well and I also had a filter ordered, which is how I found AAP - the shipment arrived fast and on time and have all worked well. Highly recommend
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? YesThis review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com
Oct 25, 2017Safe and dry
Pros: Cons: Comments:These containers are offed and very tightly sealed with the twist to tighten design. Highly recommended to keep your optics protected.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? YesThis review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com
Oct 21, 2017A bit tight at first
Pros: Cons: Comments:I received a pair of these containers with the two new eyepieces I purchased. When they first arrive they are very snug, and it can be difficult to get them to open and close. They are made to very close tolerances and the flexible material makes it a bit hard for the threads to move past each other smoothly when you first start opening and closing the container. As you thread the pieces in and out several times, they get a bit looser, but not so much that the purpose of the container, to keep out dust, is defeated.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? YesThis review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com
Oct 15, 2017Perfect fit
Pros: Cons: Comments:Most of the time my eyepieces are in a case. However, lately I have found it easier to keep them on me in the field. This helps to keep them warm and reduces dew. These plastic 'bolt' type sleeves are easy to handle in the dark and I have less of a chance to drop a cap. They keep the eyepiece safe from dirt, lint and finger prints in between use.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? YesThis review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com
Oct 12, 2017Eyepiece case
Pros: Cons: Comments:Very good. If you have an expensive eyepiece you should be using one of these. The only thing I would like to see is to make and offer a wider selection of sizes , especially in diameter options of the case. When an eyepiece won't fit in one diameter sometimes moving to the next size up is a pretty significant overkill.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? YesThis review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com
Oct 1, 201765x120mm Eyepiece Container
Pros: Cons: Comments:It's what you would expect, well made, etc. The only improvement would be for one of the foam pads to have a hole to receive the 1.25" eyepiece end to hold it in place better while traveling. Both pads provided are flat with no hole.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? YesThis review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com
Sep 8, 2017Eyepiece Container for ES 8.8mm
Pros: Cons: Comments:This container is a durable material and construction that is well suited for protecting the expensive eyepieces we use. Agena supplied this as a complimentary item in addition to the eyepiece. As always superior service.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? YesThis review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com
Aug 30, 2017Great
Pros: Cons: Comments:This came free with an eyepiece order. I feel it's also worth ordering separately for the $5 it would cost you. Comes with foam pads for buffer, too. Highly recommended.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? YesThis review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com
Aug 9, 2017Perfect for intended use
Pros: Cons: Comments:Purchased one of these for my Panoptic 35. Fits perfectly. A little bit of superlube spread on the threads makes opening and closing much easier and silent.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? YesThis review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com
