Manufacturer Description

Please Note: We are unable to recommend whether this bracket will work with your specific telescope or not. Detailed base measurements are provided in the photos above. Please see these to determine whether this bracket will work for you.

This Agena universal Laser-Finder Bracket seamlessly converts your green laser pointer into a pointing device for your telescope.

A Variety of Applications

  • For manual star hopping, you’ll find that having a laser to visually guide you across the night sky will bring the target object to your eyepiece without craning your neck meticulously looking through other types of finders.
  • For goto scopes, this pointer can reveal exactly where your scope is pointed, much to the benefit of crowds at star parties, alignment routines, or simply to satisfy curiosity.
  • For easy to overlook naked eye objects, this bracket will help you reveal their exact location in the night sky if your telescope is already pointed to them. Once the location is revealed, you may finally be able to notice those objects unaided!
  • For any scope, you’ll continue to find many uses and benefits to having the ability to mount a green laser pointer directly on your telescope.

Ease of Setup and Installation

  • The bracket comes equipped with a base that can be attached to many telescopes. With the base attached, the bracket itself can be removed or replaced without unmounting the green laser. With the dual-rings each equipped with 3 knurled alignment screws, repeatable alignment with your telescope’s optics can be reached intuitively and quickly.
  • With careful storage, this bracket will even maintain its alignment with your telescope even after removal, making this both a seamless part of your setup routine and a joy to use.

Specifications

  • Inside bracket diameter is 21.7mm/0.82" so it will work with laser pointers (not included) up to 0.75” in diameter
  • Constructed with anodized aluminum
  • Universal attachable base mounts on many telescopes with tubes 5" in diameter or larger (for mounting details and measurements, see photo 4 above)

5.0 Agena Laser Pointer Finderscope Brackets

      Pros:

      Cons:

      Comments:

      First-time purchase from Agena-Astro - A great experience!

I am very pleased with my recent purchase (with a modest discount) of seven Agena Laser Pointer Finderscope Brackets.

Although not used as part of a telescopic system, they are part of the apparatus used by my university physics student for electro-optics projects.

Prior to my purchase request, I had a few questions regarding the specifications on the bracket and mounting holes. Tom adequately responded to each question in a very timely and professional manner. ... In case your curious: My requirements called for the use of 1/4"-20 bolts, which the brackets did not permit. However, it was an easy 'fix' for me, using a 1/4-inch drill bit. So, that was not a show 'stopper'.

The purchase request was made on March 5, 2018, just as the 3rd "Noreaster" snow storm was approaching the Delaware area. To my amazement, the brackets were delivered (free of charge via USPS) to my place of residence on March 7, 2018, right in the middle of the storm that had just dumped six inches of snow. Kudos to USPS! They truly lived up to their slogan! :-)

Upon inspection and testing, each bracket, individually secured in plastic and bubble wrap, was in tact and in great working condition! I didn't find a single snowflake anywhere!

In summary, Agena Astro's service and quality of merchandise surpassed my expectation!

      Best regards,

      Mike (in Delaware)

      5.0 Brilliant!

      Pros:

      Accurate,Easy to Use,Strong Construction

      Cons:

      Comments:

I love green laser pointers. No more neck and back aches from looking thru finder scopes! And this bracket facilitates their use perfectly! Very easy to align to your scope. Mounting the bracket to your scope may require a little ingenuity, but I'm sure you can do it.
      I love it.

      5.0 Well Made

      Pros:

      Lightweight,Strong Construction,Easy to Use

      Cons:

      Comments:

There are other laser pointer brackets available out there but this Agena bracket fits the bill very well for a reasonable price. The bracket is very sturdy and well made of lightweight aluminum. A combination of slotted and hex head screws keep it all together and are easily tightened if required. The rings that support the laser pointer each have three thumbscrews for accurately adjusting the pointer to match your OTA pointing axis.

A nicely machined aluminum ring is provided with a thumbscrew that allows you to compress the laser pointer's on/off switch so that it stays on during use.

One caution: be careful where you point even low wattage lasers. There have been a number of recent reports of lasers being pointed at low flying aircraft and temporarily blinding the pilots. You can be prosecuted if they find you!

      Pros:

      Accurate,Strong Construction,Lightweight

      Cons:

      Comments:

Excellent product. Used on my 16inch dobsonian telescope. Light in weight and doesn't affect the balance. Stays dead on accurate. I am very happy with the construction of the product and the price! Thank you Agena

      5.0 Quality laser bracket

      Pros:

      Easy to Use,Strong Construction,Accurate

      Cons:

      Comments:

I use this bracket along with a RACI finder on my 12" dob. It works wonders for fast approximate positioning of the scope that I can then zero in with the RACI. The 6 screw design makes the alignment VERY stable, as I have not had to realign since I placed it on the scope. Next scope I get, I will buy another bracket.
      Thanks Agena Astro!!!

      5.0 REALLY COOL PRODUCT

      Pros:

      VERY SMART DESIGN,Easy to Use,Strong Construction,Accurate,Lightweight

      Cons:

      Comments:

Best used with a low power laser pointing device in locating celestial objects. Very easy to adjust by smart design. A helpful universal on/off clamp ring is also included. Looks very cool installed! All metal construction and sturdy mount make for many years of use. I feel this is a quality product that I would highly recommend to any astronomer.
