Manufacturer Description

"This may sound ludicrous, but I use a black tee-shirt not fully pulled down, just sitting on my neck and shoulders only" - Amateur astronomer quote on a web site.

Are you tired of draping a towel or t-shirt over your head while observing to keep out the glow of that nasty streetlight or reflection from your glossy scope tube?

While all of us would like to observe under pitch-black magnitude 7 skies, the fact of the matter is that most of us are relegated to observing from our backyards and balconies with plenty of light sources distracting us. Draping a block cloth over your head, shoulders and the telescope eyepiece/focuser is a time-honored way of eliminating stray and reflected light while viewing.

My observing buddies and I tested several fabric types and over 30 actual samples and agreed that this drape offered the best combination of opaqueness, price, and usability. Agena AstroProducts' black drapes are a generous 36x60" in size, so you don't have to worry about it sliding off every now and then.

This drape is useful even under dark skies, as well as for daytime observations of the Sun (especially for observing solar prominences and with an H-alpha filter - but you will get warm under a black cloth in the Sun in the summer).

These are cut from larger rolls, so the edges are unfinished, but at our price, these are a great bargain and value!
