Your Celestron SkyScout is a highly sensitive, fragile and costly piece of equipment and needs to be handled with care when you use it in the field. That's just what we kept in mind while making the ScoutCase which is designed to protect your SkyScout from dust, dirt, moisture and accidental drops.
Made of top grade polyurethane material that looks and feels like leather, the ScoutCase has an excellent finish. The foam padded interior provides a snug fit and added protection. The comfortable hand grip and adjustable strap also ensures you don't accidentally drop the Celestron ScoutCase.
The ScoutCase is designed to be left on the Celestron SkyScout at all times so you can make full use of the SkyScout. All the buttons and the LCD screen are totally protected by a transparent plastic cover, completely visible in the dark and always fully accessible. A headphone slot at the rear end of the ScoutCase lets you connect the audio jack with absolute ease. What's more, the ScoutCase does not interfere with or block the GPS signals on which the SkyScout operates in any way. In fact, you will find it much easier to handle the SkyScout within the ScoutCase than without it.
The only time you will need to take the Celestron SkyScout out of the case is while changing batteries or connecting the SkyScout to a computer for updates. The case and the SkyScout also comfortably fit into the storage bag you get with the SkyScout.
The ScoutCase is guaranteed against manufacturing defects for a period of one year. At about $30, it's a very small price to pay for protecting your precious Celestron Sky Scout costing more than ten times as much.

Jan 14, 2009ScoutCase Is A Winner
Pros:Well Made,Functional,Protective
Cons:No lens caps,Can't attach laser pointe
Comments:A few days ago I received the ScoutCase from Agena AstroProducts. I found the case to be a very good value for the list price. While it may not be made from the finest leather (and Agena is quite clear about that in their product description), it is certainly well made and very functional. It fits nicely in the hand, provides excellent protection for your SkyScout, and allows very good access to the SkyScout buttons and LCD display. The only downsides that I have found are these: 1) The openings in the case for the view finder windows at each end of the SkyScout tend to be convenient "handles" to pull the ScoutCase from the case provided by the manufacturer, and because the SkyScout has no lens covers, it's easy to get fingerprints on the lenses. 2) The ScoutCase is a bit snug in the original case (but functional). 3) There is no access to the 1/4 20 tripod mounting threads through the case (not that you would likely use both at the same time. 4) Lastly, when using the optional laser pointer and bracket with the SkyScout, the ScoutCase must be removed because it cannot be attached with the ScoutCase in place. Overall I give the product four stars for being very well made, with the only real downsides being my propensity to get fingerprints on the lenses and the inability to use the laser pointer bracket when the case is in use.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? YesThis review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com

Nov 19, 2008The 5 Star Scout Case for Sky Scout
Pros:Fits nicely,Well Made,Very useful accessory
Cons:Wish it had lens flaps
Comments:I recently received a ScoutCase for the Celestron Sky Scout. Prior to having the case I was concerned about dropping the Sky Scout especially when holding it for extended periods. Not that the Sky Scout is particularly slippery but it is a bit clumsy and twisting it around to read the display over a long period of time I found I'd tend to let it slip in my grip slightly. The ScoutCase is a perfect answer to protecting your Sky Scout.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
The ScoutCase is well made and fairly rugged compared to other similar camera, binocular, and small cases in this price range. The stitching is nicely done and finished well so I've no worries about it lasting. The padded handle is large enough for people with good sized hands but snug enough that even my wife's small hand isn't loose in it. The ScoutCase fits the Sky Scout very nicely and doesn't interfere with the functionality at all. I now find myself flipping it around to read the display more often because it's so much easier to do with this case. The ScoutCase provides great protection for the Sky Scout. My only wish would for the case to have a Velcro flap that would cover the lenses when not in use. A couple Velcro spots on top or bottom to hold the flaps put of the way when you are using the Sky Scout and it would resolve one of the major complaints about the SkyScout not having lens caps.
All in all the ScoutCase is a great accessory I'd recommend to anyone who owns a Sky Scout. It makes me wonder why Celestron doesn't provide one with the Sky Scout like most CCD cameras, MP3 players, etc. come with now. This review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com
Apr 4, 2008Celestron SkyScout Case does it's job.
Pros:Light weight, easy installation, great price, keeps device clean and protected for simplest use.
Cons:None: for quick, ease-of-use and weight, lens covers are not needed. Buy one.
Comments:We at the Western Colorado Astronomy Club (WCAC) do 15-20 "public out reach" programs in our local National and State Parks each year. This necessarily involves allowing novices to use some of our equipment to demonstrate it. I purchased the SkyScout Case from Agena Astro to protect the device as much as possible, but without impairing its ease of use. I found the SkyScout Case does just that. If you are ill-at-ease about others dropping it, then don't share it, but if you do, simply caution each one to keep their fingers off the lenses and let them know: "You drop it, you buy it - fair enough?" You'd be surprised at how super careful people become with that simple proviso.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
