Manufacturer Description
Synta-style dovetail base for finders and finder brackets. Same design as our Universal dovetail base, but this is larger with a wider screw hole spacing. For use on SCT telescopes primarily, but can be used on other telescope tubes as well. Will work with most compatible bracket designs from Celestron, Orion, Synta, Vixen, etc.
Can accommodate screws up to 5mm in diameter. Center-to-center screw hole spacing on your telescope must be between 20mm (0.79") minimum and 37mm (1.46") maximum in order for this dovetail base to be compatible. Fits tubes 5" and larger in tube diameter (not telescope aperture), as well as flat surfaces.
The base is made of die-cast metal and features a large thumbscrew lock. Includes two M4 screws, although your telescope might require different screws (SCT owners will typically use the screws already on their tube). Smooth black finish. Style of large silver locking thumbscrew may vary.

Pros: Cons: Comments:I used this on a celestron Se 5 ,which already had a piggy back mount on it.Using the long screws coming with the piggy back mount the adapter fits right on it and clears enough to mount a 6x30 angled finderscope perfectly w/o having any modifications to make.

Pros: Cons: Comments:These are just as good as Orion's, work fine, and cost less (with MUCH less shipping charged than Orion Telescopes charges). This must be the third one of these I have ordered from Agena in the past 5 or so years, for used SCT OTAs that I have bought that did not have a decent finder mounting foot.

Pros: Cons: Comments:Adapter for difference in screw spacing between dovetail mounts & SCT screw holes. Secures an Orion 50mm finder scope to Celestron 6" SCT via the available screws on the OTA with nary a wiggle. Would give 4.5 if I could, the only issue was that fit was just a hair too tight between the finder scope dovetail and the mounting base. Easilly remedied with a few light taps on the dovetail from a hammer for the final few mm, but unsurprisingly some folks may dislike the idea of hitting their telescopes with hammers.

May 19, 2017Wide Vixen base plate works for SCT and maybe ES refractor
Pros: Cons: Comments:I do not like the Celestron finders and they use a wide proprietary base. My Explore Scientific refractor uses a "Meade Style" finder base. Both of these have screw holes that are wider than a standard Vixen base. I had considered drilling new holes in the tube but found these wider Vixen bases. It definitely fits my SCT 925 and 1100. It should fit the holes in the ES refractor as well. I did have to buy some uxcell M5x12mm Countersunk Flat Head Phillips Screws for the SCTs. The original screws will not fit all the way down in the slot so you can't get the vixen plates to slide in all the way. The provided screws were not the right size for my SCTs. This is a great product if you want to put Vixen accessories on an SCT or ES product fairly easily.

Cons: Comments:The mount was used for an Astro Tech 60 millimeter guide scope on a Meade 2120 LX6. One of the included screws was too small and wouldn't tighten. I had to use the old screws.

Cons: Comments:This is the best deal I found looking for a simple, durable dovetail mounting base. There was a high spot in the molding that needed to be filed down a bit to prevent rocking, but at this price it was more than worth the small and easy modification. It provided a very stable bracket on my C11 for adding a small counterweight bar to fine tune the OTA balance.
