Synta-style dovetail base for finders and finder brackets. Same design as our Universal dovetail base, but this is larger with a wider screw hole spacing. For use on SCT telescopes primarily, but can be used on other telescope tubes as well. Will work with most compatible bracket designs from Celestron, Orion, Synta, Vixen, etc.
Can accommodate screws up to 5mm in diameter. Center-to-center screw hole spacing on your telescope must be between 20mm (0.79") minimum and 37mm (1.46") maximum in order for this dovetail base to be compatible. Fits tubes 5" and larger in tube diameter (not telescope aperture), as well as flat surfaces.
The base is made of die-cast metal and features a large thumbscrew lock. Includes two M4 screws, although your telescope might require different screws (SCT owners will typically use the screws already on their tube). Smooth black finish. Style of large silver locking thumbscrew may vary.

perfectPros: Cons: Comments:
I used this on a celestron Se 5 ,which already had a piggy back mount on it.Using the long screws coming with the piggy back mount the adapter fits right on it and clears enough to mount a 6x30 angled finderscope perfectly w/o having any modifications to make.

Agena Synta / Vixen Style Dovetail Mounting Base / Shoe for Finders -Pros: Cons: Comments:
Very nicely made and mounted on my C8 without any alteration. The mount did require a slight filing of the interior to accommodate the dovetail foot on my Orion CIRA finder. Once the modification was accomplished - perfect fit.

Vixwen Dovetail ShoePros: Cons: Comments:
I bought this to replace a dovetail shoe I took off my Nexstar 8 OTA. I took that dovetail shoe and put it on my new Astronomers without borders 5'f/5 telescope I bought in January. So, I needed a new shoe and thought of Agena Astro first. They always have something in stock that I need. They also have great shipping and my order arrived within three days.

Orion/Celestron finder bracket mounting foot basePros: Cons: Comments:
These are just as good as Orion's, work fine, and cost less (with MUCH less shipping charged than Orion Telescopes charges). This must be the third one of these I have ordered from Agena in the past 5 or so years, for used SCT OTAs that I have bought that did not have a decent finder mounting foot.

Does what it shouldPros: Cons: Comments:
Adapter for difference in screw spacing between dovetail mounts & SCT screw holes. Secures an Orion 50mm finder scope to Celestron 6" SCT via the available screws on the OTA with nary a wiggle. Would give 4.5 if I could, the only issue was that fit was just a hair too tight between the finder scope dovetail and the mounting base. Easilly remedied with a few light taps on the dovetail from a hammer for the final few mm, but unsurprisingly some folks may dislike the idea of hitting their telescopes with hammers.

Wide Vixen base plate works for SCT and maybe ES refractorPros: Cons: Comments:
I do not like the Celestron finders and they use a wide proprietary base. My Explore Scientific refractor uses a "Meade Style" finder base. Both of these have screw holes that are wider than a standard Vixen base. I had considered drilling new holes in the tube but found these wider Vixen bases. It definitely fits my SCT 925 and 1100. It should fit the holes in the ES refractor as well. I did have to buy some uxcell M5x12mm Countersunk Flat Head Phillips Screws for the SCTs. The original screws will not fit all the way down in the slot so you can't get the vixen plates to slide in all the way. The provided screws were not the right size for my SCTs. This is a great product if you want to put Vixen accessories on an SCT or ES product fairly easily.

Used it for a 60 mm guide scopePros:
The mount was used for an Astro Tech 60 millimeter guide scope on a Meade 2120 LX6. One of the included screws was too small and wouldn't tighten. I had to use the old screws.
The base is surprisingly sturdy. I don't get too much flexure from it at all if I move the guide scope as forward as possible. Works very well.

Strong Construction,Easy to Use,LightweightCons: Comments:
I purchased this item so that I could mount my 9x50mm RACI finder on my circa 1994 Celestron C8. The unit took all of one minute to mount and provides a solid base for my finder. Now I can swap my RACI finder between scopes. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Easy to UseCons: Comments:
I bought this to replace the factory finder rings on my C6 SCT. Now I have a quick release base for my 6X30 RACI finder, and my TeleVue Sol Searcher. Perfect fit.

Strong Construction,Easy to Use,LightweightCons: Comments:
The mounting base allowed me to convert an old Meade azimuthal mount to a Vixen dovetail. I use my azimuthal mount with my Mead 310 Refractor, and the dismount the refractor, and quickly remount it on my Orion Sirius EQ-g mount.

Solidly Made BracketPros:
I used J-B Weld to attach it to an ETX-125 OTA. The mount holds a finder scope or solar finder securely. The screw used to tighten a bracket is large and easy to grip. Very satisfied with construction quality.

Works beautifully with my Meade LX80 6"Pros:
It Just Works RightCons: Comments:
I mounted my LX80 6" SCT on a altaz mount and needed to use my Synta right angle finder instead of the Meade straight thru finder. This finder base mounted on the LX80 tube perfectly and accepted my Orion RA finder. This is a quality accessory and HIGHLY recommended by me. Agena is a wonderful vendor BTW.

Nice! Agena has lowest price on the NetPros: Cons: Comments:
Agena shipped extremely fast and has the lowest price on the Internet. This finder mounting base allows me to use one good finder on multiple scopes, including my Meade LX80. It's nicely machined and comes with M4 screws. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!

Does what it's supposed to doPros:

Best price for a decent dovetail basePros:
Compact,Easy to Use,Lightweight,Economical,Strong ConstructionCons: Comments:
This is the best deal I found looking for a simple, durable dovetail mounting base. There was a high spot in the molding that needed to be filed down a bit to prevent rocking, but at this price it was more than worth the small and easy modification. It provided a very stable bracket on my C11 for adding a small counterweight bar to fine tune the OTA balance.

Awesome dovetail basePros:
Easy to Use,Strong Construction,LightweightCons: Comments:
This was just the product I was looking for. I have standard dovetail bases but the screw spacings are all wrong for SCTs. This is definitely the one to get, plus it sits nicely on my C8 OTA, even with one screw!

Just what I neededPros:
Easy to UseCons: Comments:
I needed a base to mount my Orion brand 9x50 RACI on a used SCT I just purchased, and this product fit the bill perfectly.
Great fit, no filing or modification. Two screws, and boom, your ready to mount you finder!
Shipped fast, arrived early in time for a trip to dark skies.
Thanks again Agena Astro!

With a bit of filing....Pros:
Lightweight,Strong Construction,Easy to UseCons: Comments:
I agree with Tom from Tucson in another review. I needed to file a bit to get the shoes to work with Orion-branded right-angle finder stalks. In my case, it was easiest to file the scope stalk base.
On the plus side, they have allowed me to economically convert two SCTs to right-angle, readily detachable finders.

Great addition to my 11 SCTPros:
Strong Construction,Easy to Use,Compact,Accurate,LightweightCons:
This is a great little addition to my 11 Sct. Like most on a budget I buy used equipment. This little addition allowed me to add a tracking finder for astrophotography.

Low Cost SolutionPros:
Accurate,Easy to Use,CompactCons: Comments:
With a bit of filing, this will accept the TV quick release base. With this, I was able to add a few other scopes that I could switch the Sol Finder as well as a 60mm finder.
