These premium Japanese made Antares Plossls offer the observer the ultimate in contrast. With superior lens polishing with multi-coating on all internal air-glass surfaces, these eyepieces provide orthoscopic-type definition with the added luxury of a 52 degree apparent field. In this regard, the extra field makes them more usable as an all-around eyepiece. Planets, as well as elusive nebulosities and clusters will be presented with dazzling detail. Standard features include 5 or 7 element designs with premium, fully multicoated, edge blackened optics, engraved lettering, slip-on eyeshield and standard filter threaded barrels. The result: Ultra-crisp imaging. In Antares' tests, these eyepieces have never been beaten at what they do. For the discerning observer.

      5.0 Sometimes less is more...

      Pros:

      Nice sharp and simple eyepiece. This is all subjective, but it seems much clearer than more complex designs designed to yield longer eye relief. Images appear bright and detailed, and at least with the 10mm model, the eye relief is still well within the comfort zone and easy to use. I like it.

      5.0 My 'sweet spot' eyepiece

      Pros:

      Good value,Sharp optics

      Eye Relief

      This eyepiece gives me 125x magnification and a 2mm exit pupil in my 10" Dob - the perfect combination for both planets and some of those hard to reach DSOs. The optical quality is superb. Images are bright, sharp, full of contrast, and stay that way nearly to the edge. I own all but the 5mm and 20mm from the Antares Elite line and this one is probably my favorite. Eye relief is a little tight, but comfortable enough (without glasses) that you wont be thinking about it while observing. If you are considering picking up an Elite, this is where to start!
