Type 2: Base Plate for 12" and Larger Telescopes - GSO
Pros: Cons: Comments:This plate worked great for my scope, however I have a 10" Newtonian and the base for the 8-10" did not match my scope. Since the outside dimension of my scope is over 12 1/2", I bought this one to go with my new GSO focuser. Seems you have to base the size on the dimension of the tube, not the mirror size. There's no mention of that in the description of the bases when having to pick one.

Mar 11, 2016GSO curved base mates well with my JMI focuser and 12" tube.
Pros:Easy to Use,Strong Construction,Lightweight,Accurate
Cons: Comments:The GSO curved base fit my JMI Crayford focuser and my 12" telescope tube. A great combination.

Jun 26, 2015Fits perfect - well constructed
Pros:Solid
Cons:None
Comments:I have an old Celestron G-8N scope. I wanted to buy a new focuser and did not want to modify my tube in any way. I bought this mounting plate to see how well it would work with my setup. Surprisingly it fit perfect. So after mounting this I bought the GSO 2" Linear Bearing Crayford Focuser for Reflectors. I am really happy with my purchases.

May 30, 2014Great solution
Pros:Accurate,Lightweight,Strong Construction,Easy to Use
Cons: Comments:While looking for a crayford focuser for an 8" Newtonian, I happened upon these replacement GSO bases. I already had an extra focuser for a 10" newt so for $16 I was able to convert it over to the new size. Very cool. Didn't even know these were available until finding them at Agena. Saved me a bunch! Easy to swap and fit perfectly. Thanks Agena!

Dec 11, 2012One focuser, multiple telescopes
Pros: Cons: Comments:Focusers are not inexpensive, but among one of the very first things to be replaced after purchasing a mass-produced telescope. Stock focusers tend to be ugly and disappointing to use. In the past, if an owner replaced the stock focuser with an after-market item, the focuser would stay with that telescope for the rest of its life.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
The GSO focusers are quality focusers that delivers user satisfaction that rivals the very best of focusers. I recently bought a 6" Newtonian, and all that was required to transfer the focuser from my 8" Newtonian to the 6" was to buy a new base and attach it to the 6".
As an aside, I also recently bought a 5" Newt. The base for the 6" does not fit the 5" so well, but it fits well enough to be 100% usable and reliable. This review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com

May 5, 2011Perfect fit
Pros:Strong Construction,Accurate
Cons:None
Comments:I received this when I bought a new GSO focuser from Agena. After selecting the focuser I was asked what size telescope the focuser would be installed to. Until recently, the only option if you owned a 6" scope was to use the 8" base and add shims to get it installed. The 6" base that Agena offers works perfectly for 6" scopes.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
I installed a GSO Dual Speed Crayford onto a Meade SN6 and used this baseplate. Installation looks great and the base matched the profile of the scope perfectly. No gaps at all, just a seamless transition from scope to focuser. Great product that is sorely needed. There are a lot of 6" newts out there that could benefit from a 2" focuser. Installing one has just become much easier. This review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com
