Product Info
Manufacturer Description
This Blue Fireball adapter has an SCT male thread (2"x24TPI) as well as a 2" filter female thread (M48x0.75) on one side. It has a T / T2 male thread (M42x0.75) on the other side. So this adapter can be used as (i) an SCT male to T / T2 male adapter, or as (ii) an M48 female to T / T2 male adapter.
However, please note that you can use EITHER the SCT male thread on one side OR the M48 female thread on the same side. You cannot use both threads simultaneously, for example, to attach a 2” filter in an SCT chain. It will simply not work since the outside diameter of a 2" filter cell is exactly the same size as the SCT thread. If you attach a 2" filter to this adapter, the SCT male thread is no longer accessible/usable.
Total thickness = 9.5mm (0.37"); length of male T thread = 3mm (0.12"); length of male SCT thread = 3.5mm (0.14"); length of female M48 thread = 2.2mm (0.09"); maximum outside diameter = 52mm (2.05"). Made of black anodized aluminum.

Aug 8, 2018Key to making a stock Celestron 9x50 straight finder scope #51611 into
Pros: Cons: Comments:I forget the forum link that sent to to buy this adapter, but in fact it (along with a mating component of a ZWO OAG - the 1.25” cup that accepts yet another component - a ZWO ASI-174mm mini guide camera) is the key to making a stock 9x50 straight finder scope #51611 into a guide camera scope. First remove not just the eyepiece but the visual back that is the same diameter as the scope tube. Screw this adapter into the scope tube, then screw the OAG cup to it, then insert the guide camera and adjust the inserted length to focus. BTW, this setup will NOT permit optical viewing inserting a 1.25” eyepiece because the scope tube is too long by just a fraction of an inch to be able to reach focus. (I had thought it would be cool to make the 9X scope into a 40x scope with a strong eyepiece.) However, the above ZWO camera has an extension tube allows it to be brought to focus at an effective magnification of about 13X compared to the stock optical 9X.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
I will be using this to guide a Celestron EdgeHD 925 with HyperStar on the font end, as the HyperStar assembly will not permit use of an OAG, so if you want a guide camera for this setup you have to use a scope. However, I do use the OAG for prime position (back-end) imaging, so I had the ZWO OAG already for that, and doing double duty for the front-end HyperStar saved me the cost of a new dedicated guide scope. I don’t know that I would go out and buy a ZWO OAG just to be able to pirate the 1.25” cup component, as a dedicated guide scope could be cheaper than the OAG depending on what scope you were looking at.This review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com

Feb 4, 2018My Mistake
Pros: Cons: Comments:I was following online instructions which referred to two parts. By mistake, I ordered the wrong one. So I returned the wrong part and ordered the right one. I got my refund and the correct part within a week!

Nov 10, 2017The product is as represented.
Pros: Cons: Comments:The product is as represented. It would be nice if the diameter beyond the t adapter threads is the diameter of a 2 inch lens as this was used to fit a very close coupled condition.

Aug 24, 2017Blue Fireball T / T2 Male Thread to SCT Male & M48 (2" Filter
Pros: Cons: Comments:This was used to mate a QHY5/Starshoot guide camera to a 8x50 Orion/Synta finder scope. It worked perfectly to adapt the camera to the rear of the finder tube once the stock eyepiece assembly was removed. I was very pleased to have an inexpensive alternative to a guide scope on hand from loose parts and with the use of this neat adapter, I did not have to spend a small fortune to buy a guidescope off the shelf. Nice item...thanks Agena !

Dec 29, 2016Works but WAYYYY Over Priced!
Pros: Cons: Comments:I needed this adapter to work with my 50mm finder scope and the ASI120 camera for guiding.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
Although this adapter works, like many astronomy products, it is WAY overpriced. Probably not Agenas doing but the mfg.
It's a specialty item and they know we need it so...
The pricing is the reason for the 3 stars. This review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com

Feb 21, 2015The twistlock problem solver
Pros:Strong Construction,Compact,Lightweight
Cons: Comments:After lots of fruitless internet searches I eventually found this gem of a site that had the adaptor I need to fit my Antares twistlock adaptor to my Brightstar Filterwheel so that I could have a nice secure clamping of my ccd cam to the filter wheel. This little beauty fitted perfectly and is fine piece of engineering and a well made adaptor. Highly receommended if your looking to improve your ccd camera to filter wheel mounting

May 6, 2014Just the right part
Pros:Easy to Use
Cons: Comments:As noted, it does provide a perfect way to mount a guide camera to a Celestron 9x50 finder. Not sure if it will work with others. Great service from Agena as always.

Nov 29, 2013Guiding with a Finder Scope
Pros: Cons: Comments:I had been experimenting with auto-guiding using a Celestron 9x50 finderscope and an Orion Starshoot autoguider, but reaching focus was difficult with the adapters that I had tried. This Blue Fireball model worked "straight out of the box" and was the correct length to provide infinity focus with the Celestron/Orion combo.
