Blue Fireball T Thread Camera Adapter for Prime Focus Photography with 40mm Extension - 2" # P-07

Product Info

Manufacturer Description

Here is a unique adapter from Blue Fireball that effectively does the work of two adapters in one. In many telescope configurations, the focal plane is extended (pushed out) by the use of some accessories. Reaching focus with a camera for imaging applications then requires an extension tube. The typical solution is to use an extension tube followed by the prime focus adapter. With this adapter, you get a 2" prime focus adapter and a 40mm extension tube in one piece, thus allowing you to overcome additional out-focus travel requirements.

The 2" barrel slides into 2" focusers in telescopes and diagonals. The male T-thread at the other end allows you to attach a camera (with an appropriate T-ring, sold separately) for prime focus photography. The 2" barrel is threaded to accept standard 2" filters.

Total length = 80mm, Extension provided is 40mm (1.57"), T2 thread outside. Weight = 4.1oz.

      5.0 Perfect.

      Pros:

      Cons:

      Comments:

Needed a 2" prime focus adapter without an extremely long nosepiece and this fit the bill perfectly. Well made, finished, and 2" filters screw into it without a problem.....something I have had issue with on other make adapters (None sold from Agena)

      5.0 Very Sturdy Adapter

      Pros:

      Strong Construction,It's Great When Needed,Easy to Use,Lightweight

      Cons:

      Comments:

I have never been dissatisfied with the Blue Fireball products from Agena Astro. I have never been dissatisfied with their service, either. This adapter, with the 40mm extension, which I need, serves its purpose very well. Agena Astro has good products with good value pricing and shipping is usually free, as well. Thanks, Agena, for serving the amateur astronomy community so well!!

5.0 Want to reduce flex? Look no further.

      Pros:

      Lightweight,Prcise crafting,Threaded at both ends

      Cons:

      None

      Comments:

Want to reduce flex? Great alternative to CCD nosepiece.

I am a user of QHY8 camera with stock nosepiece. Problem with QHY8 is that this nosepiece is short. Rigid mounting of the camera is difficult if not possible at all. This adds up to the set up flex and produces star trails during longer exposures. In addition the camera may go loose and drop. This is least welcome event but happened to me twice. Considering all these I was looking to replace stock nosepiece and found Blue Fireball's T Thread Camera Adapter that suited my need 100%.
Build and finish of the adapter is very good. You get anodized, aluminum piece that is perfectly crafted. The tube has external thread that ideally fits QHY8 and the internal one for filter mounting. I use Orion 2" filters that screw in with no effort. My camera is safe now and the flex got reduced noticeably. Can recommend with no hesitation to anyone that looks for similar piece of equipment.
