Manufacturer Description
Here is a very versatile adapter from Blue Fireball that can be used for prime focus and fixed or variable eyepiece projection photography with your telescope.
Separate the two parts and the smaller lower barrel by itself is a standard 1.25" Prime Focus T-adapter. Insert the 1.25" barrel into your diagonal or telescope, attach your D/SLR camera to the male T-thread (via a T-ring that is specific to your camera; not included), and you are ready to take photos as prime focus with your telescope or spotting scope. In this set-up, the optical chain will be:
Telescope/Diagonal > Prime Focus T-adapter> T-ring > D/SLR camera
But that is not all. The magnification in the image you shoot depends on the distance between the top of the inserted eyepiece and the camera. This combination eyepiece camera adapter has a sliding barrel design that allows variable projection distances for eyepiece projection photography. This eliminates the need to change eyepieces when different magnification or additional projection enlargement is desired. All you need to do is to slide the outermost barrel away from or towards the telescope and the projection magnification increases or decreases. This additional projection range is particularly useful in high-resolution Lunar / Planetary photography. Of course, you can still change your 1.25" eyepieces to gain an even larger range of magnifications.
You will be able to use many, but not all, 1.25" eyepieces with this adapter. The adapter barrel can accept 1.25" eyepieces up to 38.5mm (1.52") in maximum outside diameter. The length of the upper barrel of the eyepiece (above the eyepiece shoulder, excluding the lower 1.25" barrel) cannot exceed 72mm (2.83") in the shortest setting position of the adapter or 106mm (4.18") in the longest setting position of the adapter. Please check your eyepiece dimensions before ordering to ensure that it will fit inside the adapter.
The prime focus adapter end is threaded to accept standard 1.25" filters so you can use your favorite photography filters as well. The adapter is precision machined from aluminum and black anodized, and weighs 7.1oz. The total length of the adapter can vary between 118.6mm (4.67") and 152mm (6") depending on the eyepiece used and the projection desired.
The lowermost single silver screw visible in the photos is used to secure the 1.25" eyepiece inserted into the adapter. The two other silver screws are used to lock the sliding barrel in place over the inner barrel.

Nice Solid Product
Pros: Cons: Comments:This is a very solid product, which holds firmly once the screws are set. No wiggle here. I use Celestron Omni XLT plossies for projection, which fit well inside the barrel with very little play, and which fit snugly once the eyepiece screws is tightened. Overall a well machined and good adapter.

Apr 14, 2018Fine piece of engineering
Pros: Cons: Comments:The fireball is so well made, I may just buy two so I can display one on my wall. It’s solid, precise threads, overall an excellent product!

Jun 5, 2017Only Way to Image with a PST
Pros: Cons: Comments:This device made it possible to eyepiece projection images with the Coronado PST and Skyrys 236M camera. You will also need a Blue Fireball V-02 "T to C" adapter.

Apr 15, 2017Very Good, but...
Pros: Cons: Comments:Needs some improvement. Build quality is very good as is functionality. Eyepiece support however- not so much. The eyepiece holder tube is just a hair too small. It is really only acquire to hold an eyepiece that is. Couple millimeters larger than the barrel. You are looking at orthodontist or standard plossl at focal lengths 26 mm and below. I have a couple gso plossl's and the 9 mm and a 21 mm Keller I had laying around d work great, but it is just a hair too small for the gso 32. Just a couple mm more and many more eyepieces would be viable. I also have a 6mm agena swa(I think these are the same as Orion starguider) that fits fine. I can understand that it is impractical to make it so my Meade 5.5 has would fit, but I was expecting the 32mm gso plossl's to work, but it is just a mm of so too small.

May 31, 2014Very impressive
Pros:Compact,Strong Construction,Accurate,Lightweight,Easy to Use
Cons: Comments:Was looking for a good adpater for eyepiece projection. The description of this was just what I was looking for. My only concern as other expressed was eyepieces fitting inside. This turned out to not be an issue at all. The construction is very good, the variable focla length adjustment makes it great, I was worried about flex with it extended. I have used it on 32mm, 25mm, and 12mm eyepieces and have provided great images of Jupiter and Saturn. Still trying to get the right combination for some of the brighter DSO, but that is a challenege of my lack of knowledge, not this product. If you want a great cheap way to do eyepiece projection then you can't go wrong with this. The eyepiece arrived in only 3 days so that was impressive shipping, so I recommend this, and with the fast shipping you will have it fast to see how easy this is.

Apr 11, 2014Better than I expected.
Pros:Easy to Use,Strong Construction
Cons: Comments:Been doing prime focus with a Celestron t-adapter. Was good for DSO, but for planets there was very little maginifcation. This was just what I needed. The shipping was very fast, had it in 2 days. The construction is better then I thought it would be, the t-ring screwed right in perfectly, the eyepieces all fit in with no issues, even the 6mm with the rubber eye guard. I was concerned about flex in the assembly with it fully extended, this also proved to be a non-issue, the whole assembly is extremly strong. I have seen a drastic improvement in the quality of the images I take instantly. I was researching this type of photography and all I can say about it is they make it way harder then it sounds, this adapter makes it all so simple, drop in your eyepiece, fasten it all to the camera and telescope, and your off and running. Only drawbacks I see in the whole process, make sure your alignment is perfect, and focusing can be a bit tricky at higher magnifications. But this adapter is perfect and I see no reason to spend $80-100 when this is so good for so much less.

Nov 5, 2011Really surprised.
Pros:Strong Construction,Easy to Use,Lightweight
Cons: Comments:Great product. Tried a lot of cheap chinese t-mounts and fittings before with a lot of bad threads, poor finishes, etc., and was expecting something similar. What a surprise, clean threads, perfect finish, works great. Excelent product overall.

Jan 26, 2011Very versatile
Pros:Strong Construction,Compact,Accurate
Cons: Comments:This is a really universal adapter. Not only it does 1.25", I take out 2 screws for the bottom barrel and it becomes a 2" adapter which fits right into my 2" crayford focuser ( although little bit longer than the regular 2" adapter ). I was playing with it because of cloudy weather and did some really macro photography with my 25mm eyepiece, like zooming into snowflakes.

Dec 24, 2010Very nice product
Pros:Strong Construction,Compact,Accurate
Cons:Difficult To Focus,Unstable
Comments:With this adapter you can do very nice photos at Moon and at other bright celestial objects. The eyepieces fits perfectly inside the adapter and you can reach very high magnifications. It's a bit difficult to focus, but if you have live view in your camera it will be easier. I use the adapter to join my camera (pentax k-x) to my 700mm telescope and it works pretty well. Since my camera is heavy, the telescope become a bit unstable.
