The Celestron 94218 Dovetail bar is for mounting a Celestron 14" telescope optical tube to a CGE mount or to attach accessories to the top of the optical tube. Having an extra dovetail bar means that a telescope can have its tube rings attached to its own dovetail bar.

The rectangular dimensions of the dovetail bar are approximately 24" x 4" (please see the pdf file below for the item schematic and exact details).

Product carries full 2 year Celestron factory limited warranty (within US/Canada only).

      3.0 Losmandy style dovetail for Celestron 9.25.

      A D style dovetail for mounting a C9.25 on an equatorial mount. Visually it looks good and anodized to matche the Celestron orange color. The version I got though, was unfortunately banged and therefore was making contact with the OTA only at three positions (rather than all four corners). Tightening this dovetail could lead to warping of the Aluminum OTA. So, I ended up using a metal file, to remove the raised lip and make it flat again. Now all 4 sides sit tightly and hold the OTA well.
      A second concern was that the hole spacing on the dovetail was barely matching the OTA spacing, and the screws needed to be "pushed" to match the OTA, raising some concern for cross threading the OTA.

      At the end, it works well, but this product is by far not as good as an ADM product. You do get what you pay for.

      Now that I have upgraded my GEM mount, I needed a more secure way to hold my C8 OTA. This larger mounting rail was just the trick.

      I REPLACED THE STOCK V SERIES DOVETAIL BAR WITH THIS D STYLE ON MY 9.25 SCT SCOPE FOR A BETTER MOUNTING PLATFORM. IT REALLY ADDS MORE STABILITY ON A BIGGER MOUNT. I INTEND TO ADD ANOTHER ON TOP FOR A GUIDE SCOPE ON. NICE PRODUCT BY CELESTRON!
